WSJ / NBC Poll Will Have Anti-Gunners Spitting Mad

It’s no secret that the mainstream media tends to be hostile towards gun owners and gun rights, so it’s refreshing when one of these organizations actually tells the truth about these issues. In this case, the facts that the Wall Street Journal and NBC are highlighting are facts about the American populace’s true position on gun rights versus gun control.

The mainstream media’s position on this issue is typically that the American populace wants to take away all guns from private citizens, but that’s not the result that this poll tells. An NRA-ILA commentary gives us the details:

Among the gun-related questions in the survey, respondents were asked to choose which of the following statements concerned them more.

Statement A: The government will go too far in restricting the rights of citizens to own guns
Statement B: The government will not do enough to regulate access to firearms

50 percent answered that they were more concerned with government overreach on guns, while 45 percent were more concerned that the government would do too little. To put this in historical perspective, when asked this same question in 1995, respondents were more concerned about a lack of gun control by a margin of 58 to 35.

The poll also sought to measure how significant the gun issue is to voter decision-making by asking the following question.

Now, let me read you a number of issues that create much discussion, but unlike foreign policy, national defense, and the economy, they sometimes do not get as much attention. Of these issues, which one or two, if any, are important enough to you to have an impact on how you vote in an election?

Demonstrating the importance of the gun issue to the American electorate, 35 percent of respondents reported that “gun rights or gun control” had an impact on their voting behavior. The issue was the highest-rated answer, beating out issues such as the environment, immigration, abortion, drug use, religion, gender equality, and gay rights.

Think about the significance of these numbers. Anti-gunners want to say that Trump won the most recent Presidential election because of election fraud or because of some other red herring issue, but they don’t want to face the fact that one of the reasons that Hillary Clinton was defeated in the most recent election is because Americans recognize both that their government can’t protect them at all times and also (probably because of the Obama administrations hostility towards gun ownership) that their government may not always be working in their best interest.

The American people have been waking up to the importance of gun rights and gun ownership, and, as responsible gun owners, we should lead this charge and continue to fan the flames of personal liberty and responsibility in our country which is protected by gun ownership.

  1. I believe our forefathers were right in giving us the right to bear arms so we can defend ourselves. They understood that there would come a time when some people would want to take our rights away. That would open us up to becoming a nation with no rights.

    • Neither our forefathers or the Bill of Rights “gave us” the right to keep and bear arms. Both merely affirmed that this was a natural right which exists for everyone on the planet.

      • Well yeah, to keep and bear arms is a natural right for everyone on the planet, but the Bill of Rights is directed at Americans.

  2. Why is it that the most vocal gun controllers have armed security and live in gated communities.
This begs an honest answer which we probably will never get from the gun controllers.

  3. Correct: We don’t trust the government! Especially the part that is overly controlled by liberals.

  4. In 2005 when I was 66 years old, a 24 year old man was running from police, doubled back down my alley, jumped over my 6′ fence, ran in my back door. If I had not had my pistol, HIS OWN DADDY told me his son would have killed me! (High on meth!) I will never give up my pistol!

    • Idaho has very open gun laws because we the people need them for safety and for defense against oppression by the government. simple as that. But the Second amendment says the right to bear arms. That means all the necessary accessories to do exactly that and no less.

  5. Europe gives us an example of the usefulness of guns. Britain has the most restrictive gun laws in Europe. It also has the highest violent crime rate. Switzerland has the least restrictive gun laws in Europe. It has the lowest violent crime rate. Switzerland wants every household to have a gun. When a male comes of age, he must enter the army. When his term is up and he is discharged, he is given his army gun to take home with him. During the two world wars, Switzerland was the only neighboring country not invaded by Germany. Even Hitler was not stupid enough to invade Switzerland.

  6. Anti-gunners: Life is made up of priorities, and our success is usually based upon our ability to get them into the right order. The bottom line, nothing beats it, priority is “remain alive.”
So – let me get this straight. You want to deprive me of the only ultimately useful way to remain alive, for WHAT reason? You seem to forget that those I would defend myself against are either criminals or totally out of their minds – so I’m to believe they will not be armed? Just what imaginary dream world do you live in? Were you to see the statistics, you’d find that the armed person has either successfully defended himself, or discouraged the potential perp, some several thousand times a month in the US. Virtually all robbers, muggers, or other scum-bag types, carry a deadly weapon, usually a gun. Laws mean nothing to them. So, now, because of foolish folk like you, in several parts of the US, one must behave like a cornered rabbit on the street at night. I don’t believe the founding fathers had it in mind that we would have to “escape and evade” in order to go home after a movie, or party. I won’t drive in certain parts of certain cities after dark, just because I don’t wish to have to stop for a red light. This is MY country, God Damn it all, and I believe I should be able to defend myself if need be.

    • Well said, except for the GD part! Points well made. It is horrific that the libs and all anti-gunners know these things, but that is what they want…a defenseless populace. They could not care any less about anyone shot or killed in any manner by some bad guy or woman; they simply want you and I defenseless! They want it made easy if they do try to come and remove all our freedoms in this land, and take us away!

  7. Gun control will never stop a criminal from having a firearm. The only thing gun control would do is make law abiding citizens, more vulnerable to criminals, and increase the number of shootings in the country. The second amendment was written, not only to protect citizens from criminals, but to protect them from an encroaching federal govt. More people have been killed by the government, in their countries, once their guns were banned than by any other means in history. Germany under Hitler was a prime example.

    • correction it will do two things 1) as you stated it will make law abiding more vulnerable 2) it will make criminals out of law abiding citizens because I guarantee that most of us will not turn over our guns!!

  8. It’s better to have a fire arm and not need it>>Than to need one and not have it??WHEN YOU HAVE ONLY SECONDS TO LIVE THE POLICE ARE ONLY MINUTES AWAY(ACTUALLY YOU ARE DEAD WHEN THEY ARRIVE) FACT.

    • So right. A gun that is locked up is of no use to any one. If you can’t get it out and use it in seconds, don’t waste your money buying one

  9. When Our Elected Representatives in Washington DC understand Our 2nd Amendment was passed to allow USA Citizens the right to own and bear Arms without infringement – as it explicitly states – the Safer We USA Citizens will be… Our Constitution was established to form a “Lean, Mean Fighting Machine” in Our Defense, and Our Congress and President and Federal Courts to be granted Rights by the States, not the States being granted Rights by Our Congress and President and Federal Courts…

  10. Let’s hope all Second Amendment supporters keep up their vigilanceand get out and continue voting in local elections and the mid terms.

  11. The same people who say we should take guns away said they wish Obama was our dictator.

  12. Without the right to own and bear arms,, we are not FREE, we are nothing but slaves to the government.
In England they call them SUBJECTS…..

  13. Beware the Useful Idiots
    submitted by Garret Geer
Recall that Hillary did her college thesis on his writings and Obama writes about him in his books.
Saul Alinsky died about 43 years ago, but his writings influenced those in political control of our nation today.
    Died: June 12, 1972, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA

    Education: University of Chicago
    Spouse: Irene Alinsky
Books: Rules for Radicals, Reveille for Radicals
Anyone out there think that this stuff isn’t happening today in the U.S.?
All eight rules are currently in play.
How to create a social state by Saul Alinsky:
There are eight levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a social state. The first is the most important.
    1) Healthcare – Control healthcare and you control the people.
    2) Poverty – Increase the Poverty level as high as possible; poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.
    3) Debt – Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.
    4) Gun Control– Remove the ability to defend themselves from the government. That way you are able to create a police state.
    5) Welfare – Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income).
    6) Education – Take control of what people read and listen to – take control of what children learn in school.
    7) Religion – Remove the belief in the God from the government and schools.
    8) Class Warfare – Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent, and it will be easier to take (tax) the wealthy with the support of the poor.
Does any of this sound like what is happening to the United States?
Alinsky merely simplified Vladimir Lenin’s original scheme for world conquest by communism, under Russian rule. Stalin described his converts as “Useful Idiots.”
The Useful Idiots have destroyed every nation in which they have seized power and control. It is presently happening at an alarming rate in the U.S.
“It is difficult to free fools from the chains they revere.”

  14. Great report and reader comments. I fear we need an enlightened group of legislators to modify gun rights on the margin without sending us down the “slippery slope” we all know exists. Perhaps national carry legislation will prove to be a deterance as it allegedly did in the case of a Japanese admiral in WW2 (recall “behind every blade of grass”?). I sometimes think some form of mandatory national service-includinrererg military service-might reduce the national anti gun/no respect for the law trends in this country.

  15. The anti-gun cry babies ala moron Shumer, will alwaysbe what they are now: They are a mental disorder. And so are all the liberal morons in Hollywood. The hypocrisy of them is nothing less than astounding. They are anti-gun, but make films full of gun violence. Because they are considered “STARS” we all have to listen to what they think is right. Modana, who wants to burn down the White House should be deported to Cuba. They would love an a++hole like that there.

  16. The reason why the Democraps hate the President and Guns, is they can’t control them. That what makes nuts The Democrats have evil intensions not for our good but for their belief in globalism to be able to round us up without a fight! No Deal

  17. When I enlisted in the Navy, I swore to protect and defend the Constitution form all enemies, foreign and domestic. That oath did not have an expiration date. We will remain free so long as we remain armed and ready to defend our rights.

    • I did the same when I joined the ARMY but here in MA they already took my gun LIC. away because of the Brady bill I smoked pot 20 years before that all charges ware non felon probation continued with out a finding & dismissed. but they took my gun LIC. away anyway. my Military records show that I am highly trained with any weapons that I got issued to me the M-16 A-1 the M-1911 colt .45 POSTOL the M-60 MACHINE GUN HAND GRENADE & the M 203 GRENADE LANCHUER & the M-79 GRENADE LANCHUER & the AK-47 because Russia was the threat at the time of my service 1981 to 1987 but because I smoked pot like every one did at that time I was still allowed to keep my GUN LIC & GUNS sometime in the late 1990’s early 2000’s I got a letter from the local police saying I had to reapply for my GUN LIC.it was denied because I smoked pot 20 + years ago because of the Brady BILL it is in my Military records that I did before I took my ASAFB test so this gun grabber shit all started because some A##whole shot President REAGAN & Brady

  18. Our founding fathers were not dummies. They had just won a war with armed citizens. What better idea to make sure of their safety by providing an arms right to the constitution. At the rate we are going, we may well need those weapons sooner rather than later.

  19. Anti-Gunners are technically Anti-american. Support the Constitution of the United States of America, along with the Bill of Rights, or leave the United States. People today are doing what they want to do, not what they are suppose to be doing. Do not fold to the melting snow flakes in American Society. Stand Tall, Stand Firm. This is a war between Good & Evil, and most of them don’t even know or realize it.

  20. Very good and interesting comments on here. I was raised around guns my whole life. Taught as far back as I can remember that it was designed for 1 thing only. To kill. Food, attackers, murderers, rapists, etc… I raised my children to respect and enjoy guns safely. All 3 of them have their own and I am proud that they carry. Also I taught them the constitution where the education system fell short. 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting, it’s guaranteed protection from Tyranny. Period.
