We Knew He Was Trouble, But Guns Are Still To Blame

What should you do when someone does something absolutely horrible? What if the people responsible to prevent people from doing these kinds of horrible things fall down on their jobs and don’t prevent the person from doing those terrible things?

Well, if you are a rational person who tries to actually understand what is going on, you blame the person who did those awful things. You would even be justified in blaming the people who had the knowledge and power to stop him and didn’t.

But, if you’re an anti-gunner, you don’t blame that horrible person and you don’t blame government employees who didn’t do their jobs. No, you blame guns.

And that is exactly what is going on again in the wake of the terrible school shooting in Parkland, Florida. Dave Workman writes,

Still, anti-gun Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) wasted no time, taking the Senate floor to criticize his colleagues.

“This epidemic of mass slaughter,” Murphy said, as quoted by the Daily Beast. “This scourge of school shooting after school shooting. It only happens here, not because of coincidence, not because of bad luck, but as a consequence of our inaction. We are responsible for a level of mass atrocity that happens in this country with zero parallel anywhere else.”

Of course, Murphy is talking about how awful guns are and how guns are to blame and that lawmakers are bad for not banning guns, but he never discusses what really could have made a difference in this shooting.

For example, the FBI was notified multiple times that the alleged shooter made Facebook posts stating that he was going to commit a mass shooting. What did the FBI do? Nothing.

Seventeen lives were lost because of the FBI’s inaction.

Or how about the school resource officer who was in uniform and armed and on campus at the time of the attack? Apparently, he waited outside of the building “upwards of four minutes” according to Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel. Why wasn’t he doing his job? He was armed and on campus for the very purpose of preventing these kinds of tragedies, yet he did nothing. How many lives could have been saved if that school resource officer had done his job?

If you look at the facts, it’s not that guns caused the problem here (the shooter could have set bombs or driven a car into a crowd or done some other horrible thing instead of using firearms). The problem is that the government employees charged with preventing and/or stopping these kinds of situations did not do their jobs.

Banning guns isn’t the solution. People doing their jobs to protect other people is the solution.

But that doesn’t satisfy the knee-jerk reactions of anti-gunners who simply want virtue-signalling instead of real solutions.

  1. Amen but these people are listening to an emotionally charged teen who thinks she’s an adult and she’s not. Adults can think rational thoughts. My daughter’s could tell you even when they were 7 &10 that guns don’t kill people; people kill people.? Now they are 19 and 21 and they plan, like I do to get conceal carry licenses. For our protection! My 22 year old and I are going to be teaching in the next school year! I would rather protect my students, then let them cower under desks in a school with a gun free zone, where only the killer is armed! That is insane!

  2. Anyone and everyone that had knowledge of anyone planning to do anything illegal or shooting a lot of people that does not do anything to prevent it should be treated as an accomplice and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, You can’t stop these things from happening when you do not treat those responsible as harsh as you can. Feeling sorry for them is not going to help.

  3. It is amazing how easily Americans are BRAINWASHED! IN Iran children have no knowledge of what happens anywhere in the world because they have no way of getting information from other people who have common sense. But in the U.S. anyone can get real, important information just about anywhere. But the large majority of people waste all their time playing video games, watching and listening to facebook or twitting with other naive and dumb people who have no knowledge of what really goes in the world. No excuse for not knowing in this countryl So too many of them believe what the big mouth, lying Liberals want them to hear – all for the reason of brainwashing the dummies who will then vote for them , keeping themselves in what they think is political power!!! You would think that these know – nothings would someday come to their senses – but they don’t. .They just continue to spew out of their mouths the same old lame, outworn lies. it’s amazing how stupid people can WANT to continue to let other people make up their minds for them.

  4. It’s taking years to take away our guns but yet will take one day to protect
the schools put somebody armed police officers, teachers or gourds there NOW
while all you do is see who gets the best ratings on your fake news
and that idiot Johnnie Carson –wan-be Jimmie Kimbel crying on
his stage if it wasn’t for Donald Trump winning he would still have low ratings
and ready to get canceled look at his ratings now and all the other shows
    since Trump

  5. Liberals still blame objects.
Guess we can blame the camera for all the cussing, and nudity on tv.
We can blame cars for drunk driving,
    Spoons for making people fat.
What we can’t blame is the person doing the shooting, or the person driving drunk, or the person that is offended by God’s word.
Make excuses for them instead of blaming the person makes more sense.

  6. I believe the Editor here is making more sense than most things I’ve read lately! I’ve been listening, thinking and studying this thing and what I’ve come up with is this: (1) Guns don’t kill people! (2) Most people who have weighed in on the Parkland shooting don’t have a clue and (3) Most liberals don’t seem to have a mind of their own! I don’t claim to have the answers but even I have sense enough to know that taking guns away from our citizens is not the answer!

  7. Obviously, it’s entirely the fault of The NRA, along with law abiding gun owners, and possibly the phases of the moon too. Perish the thought that blame ever be place with the person who acted, or with what might laughingly might be referred to as The Forces of Law And Order, who were seemingly otherwise occupied before, during and after.

  8. Firearms are inanimate unthinking non-sentient objects. No firearm ever walked itself to school and killed seventeen people. Any person in a position of knowledge regarding the dangers this Cruz individual represented who did nothing to prevent this despicable act is equally as guilty as Cruz who reportedly pulled the trigger. Those whose cowardice, standing orders or specific orders who did nothing to stop this murderous rampage while it was happening need to be sued by the grieving parents and prevented from ever holding such a position of responsibility again. Every level of authority failed, which is why we should never depend on these fools for our safety. I will protect myself and my family and friends myself. Thank you very much.

  9. Chris Murphy needs to take matters into his own hands! Start by showing up at 3am barging into gun owners houses unanounced and demanding their guns. Might as well demand money as well.

  10. A weapon is a tool, no matter what it is: shovel, pick, knife, baseball bat or a bow and , slingshot, etc.
The weapon used is dependent on the person that is using it for good or evil. In this matter of school
shooting; it is my belief that it should NOT be a gun free zone. I believe that those teachers that want
to be armed should be. Take the course that is promoted byh the police/sheriff/state where they can
learn about that particular weapon and require them to go to the firing range so they can get used
to the feel, sound and recoil of the weapon. This will give the teacher confidence in protecting the
students and herself. There also should be school resource officers armed, the number would be dependent on the size of the school. Teachers should take and be issued CCW licenses.

  11. I recently finished a mandatory child abuse certification for Pennsylvania, so I may teach our Sunday school children. I can be held criminally responsible if I do not report! Below is the list of Mandated Reporters. I am not sure of what Florida’s laws are but there are many more people responsible for this than just the shooter…
    Mandated Reporters
(Someone required by law to report suspected child abuse)

    1. Licensed or certified to practice in any health-related field under the jurisdiction of the Department of State
    2. Medical examiner, coroner, funeral director

subject to supervision or licensure by the department under Articles IX and X of the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), known as the Public Welfare Code.

  12. These comments are all spot on. Question; With the local state and federal authorities ALL failing to act on previous knowledge of Cruz’s proclivities for violence, self-hate and myriad of other psychological markers that would have precluded him for ever buying a weapon, and then did not act, how in the world are more gun control laws going to prevent further acts of this kind? Our authorities cannot enforce the laws that are now in place, how are more anti-gun laws going to help? Three times more homicides are committed with knives than guns. Where are the knife control laws? Planned Parenthood kills more unborn babies in a week than gun crimes do. Where are the abortion control laws? (And your tax dollars are paying for this infanticide.) The Left practices what’s known as incrementalism; they take little steps to undermine the issues of which they are opposed. Little by little, they get to the one big issue that they are really interested in eliminating; like the Second Amendment. Pretty soon, the leap to eliminate that which they REALLY oppose, is not so great. It’s also called, “death by a thousand cuts”. Remember, it’s not about the guns, it’s about the control. That what The Left is after, CONTROL. If the founding fathers did not institute the Second Amendment, there would be no other amendments and no Constitution.

  13. In plain, blunt English, apologies to those sensitive types who might venture here, Senator Murphy should be advised to Perform An Unnatural Sexual Act On Himself.

That said, and the question has been previously posed, what happened to those august members of The FBI, aka Fan Belt Inspectors? Added to that, what of local authorities, who it seems had had the benefit of numerous warnings/calls about the mental state of the kid that turned shooter, and seemingly ignored them all.

Pardon me for so noting, but firearms of whatever type/design you might pick are inanimate objects, that lack either will or intent of their own. They also lack the ability to function, that is fire or discharge absent human intervention, at least it is so in the world I inhabit..

So, let’s cut the crap and recognize three facts, which are as follows. Government, having had ample warnings, ignored them all, and blew it, their performance” all to clearly displaying unfortunate failings, failings that led to the loss of life that we hear so much about. Is is not here a “gun”problem, rather here, like it has been elsewhere, it is a “people” problem, i.e. people not doing the job they are hired, and well paid to do.
