Remington is a legendary name in the firearms industry, and they continue to bring new items to the industry. One new product that they recently released is a 12-gauge shotgun which they are calling the V3 Tac-13.

While many people may think of pump style shotguns when thinking about that type of weapon, the V3 Tac-13 is a semi-automatic shotgun which allows a faster rate of fire, and, interestingly, this particular shotgun doesn’t come with a stock (see the picture above). Chris Eger gives us the details about this gun:

Announced quietly on Tuesday, the Tac-13 builds on Remington’s success in the past two years with their Tac-14 series of pump guns but instead of a lineage derived from the vaunted model 870, the newest scattergun is based on the company’s V3 semi-auto line. Standard with a Shockwave grip and a 13-inch light contour cylinder bore barrel while keeping an overall length of just 26.5-inches, Remington bills the new gun as a compact personal protection piece.

“From the comfort of your home, to the remote wilderness the V3 Tac-13 offers the assurance that no matter what you encounter in the world you have adequate means to defend yourself or those you love from any threat,” says the company.

Using the V3’s VersaPort gas system, the Tac-13 is billed as coupling both reliable feeding and low recoil using everything from light field loads to full-power buck and slugs.

Notably, unlike the Tac-14 but similar to the Mossberg Shockwave series, the new Remington offering is complete with a hand strap on the front grip to help mitigate muzzle flip. Photos show a short accessory rail on the forearm and the top of the receiver drilled and tapped for additional rails.

With a black oxide finish, synthetic stock and a front bead sight, the 5.94-pound Tac-13 has an MSRP of $915.

Granted, with this MSRP, the V3 Tac-13 will be out of reach for some gun owners, but, if you’re looking for something a little different, this may be worth considering for your next shotgun purchase.

  1. As a Hunter Education Instructor who was wrongly cited in a news article in the local daily newspaper as teaching young children about, “automatic weapons” even though 5 or 6 parents also stated I never said automatic just semi automatic. The local paper said they had to stand behind their novice female reporter. It is now my practice to use the term self loading firearm TPWD strongly urges their H/E instructors never ever never call a rifle, pistol, shotgun, muzzleloader a weapon only use the word FIREARM. You might think about removing one more chance for the anti’s to wrongly attack us.
