This Anti-Gunner Has To Know That This Bill Won’t Pass

One of the frustrations when dealing with people who are anti-gunners is that they are obsessed with posturing and virtue signaling instead of spending that time and energy actually doing something worthwhile.

A perfect example of this foolishness is legislation proposed in Alabama, which isn’t exactly a gun control zone. Mike Cason writes,

The mass shooting at a Florida high school last month continues to spawn proposals at the Alabama State House, including one that a Democratic lawmaker hopes will at least generate discussion.
Rep. Mary Moore, D-Birmingham, introduced a bill today that she said was intended to ban the sales of all semiautomatic guns, both rifles and pistols.

“It’s time that we had that conversation in the state of Alabama as well as across the country,” Moore said. “Because it appears as though it’s all right for our children to be killed. And nothing is done about it.”

Moore said she wants to ban the sales of guns she said were intended for war that are being used to carry out mass killings, like the Feb. 14 massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., where authorities say a 19-year-old former student killed 17 people with an AR-15-style semiautomatic rifle.

“I know people want to hide behind the Second Amendment, but those weapons were used for war,” said Moore, a retired medical technologist who has served in the House since 2002.

Now, aside from pointing out the fact that this lady simply doesn’t know what she is talking about when she says that semiautomatic guns are only used for war purposes, I have to ask, “Does she really think that she has a snowball’s chance of passing this bill?” She is in Alabama, after all.

I don’t get the impression that this lady, based on her previous work in medical technology, is not intelligent, so that leads me to believe that this bill is simply more posturing for votes.

In other words, it’s a waste of time and a waste of money. The people of Alabama should be outraged that their legislators aren’t showing some sense of responsibility by actually getting productive things done.

And someone needs to send Representative Moore a letter to wake her up to reality because she doesn’t seem to be acknowledging the fact that this bill will not pass in Alabama.

  1. Guns are only “TOOLS” They have became Political tools for Phony politicans to RANT on .

  2. This is just the same old totalitarianism. And, even in Alabama, we have at least a few Communists. And any totalitarianism, ALL totalitarianism, is always the rule of the few over the many. And the enemy are ultra-persistent.
The one thing i can say for the enemy is the First Principle of Gun Confiscation: that BULLIES AND BRUTES (who practice brutality and/or commit atrocities) HAVE NO GUTS FOR A FAIR FIGHT. And that is why they want the population to be DEFENSELESS.
In other words, the enemy are cowards. And that is a blessing.

  3. I wish to stress to a supposedly intelligent Rep. Mary Moore from Birmingham that guns intended for war are NOT SEMI-automatic, they’re FULLY automatic. Semi-automatic weapons of war stopped being the preferred gun of the American foot soldier in 1962 with the advent of the M-14. That was 57 years ago. Shortly after that, the M-16 was adopted, which is also fully automatic. Finally, if an Army PFC entered a field of battle with an AR-15, his life expectancy would be measured in minutes. Clearly Rep. Moore, you should get your facts right before you speak. You don’t want to look foolish.

  4. I am just glad I won’t live long enough to see how much dumber our politicians can become. They have to wait until they are outdumbed by the voters, who keep voting in these incompetent know-nothings.
What a tremendous waste of time and money to get absolutely NOTHING done that is worthwhile. Many years ago it was explained to me that being in government is a non-productive effort. Boy, are they proving that statement correct.

  5. If one would look into those that commit these murders one would notice that in the vast majority of the cases that shooter is/was an avid pot user. But who would want to confuse a good story with the actual facts. If a person is not responsible in one area he isn’t in other areas.

  6. Point in fact – Muskets were weapons of war when the Constitution was drafted. Seems a large majority of our forefathers felt the Tyranny of Government was cause for greater concern.

  7. The South cherish their 2nd Amendment Rights as much as they do anything and everything else. Especially when it comes to taking them away and becoming a “DIMOCRATIC” slave.
The obvious way to get the message out about these so called mass shooters is to educate people, especially the younger generation, about the safety and damage that a gun can cause, both mentally and physically, but more on the safety issue. Plus the consequences in causing such disruptive behavior towards others. Everyone is always saying: Education, education, education…So, let’s educate them better and start disciplining at home. It worked for me, my dad, his dad and so forth. And it worked for millions of people through hundreds of years. That’s where it will end, by first disciplining our children at home and giving more education on the firearms, the repercussions of after the fact, and why it’s never a good idea to point a firearm at something that you don’t intend to destroy… FOREVER. That life or lives and their own.
To hell with being a slave to the”DIMOCRATS”… education and discipline is the key to resolving this matter. PERIOD.
Thank you for letting me reply to this email and have a wonderful weekend and God bless the U.S.A.

  8. Mary Moore, If ar-15’s were used for war we would have a whole lot more dead soldiers. As a politician you would garner a lot more respect if you did a little reading on the subject.

  9. In point of fact, no nation in the world issues AR-15’s to its combat troops. Hence, the AR-15 is not a weapon of war, and I, for one, am tired of hearing it being referred to as such.

  10. I have to agree that a semi-automatiic rifle is not a weapon of war. It is not used for that purpose. Furthermore, no such weapon existed during the war for independence. THere was nothing even remotely similar during that war.NO weapons of war then had any sort of automatic fire. THey we muskets that fire a ball after powder ws loaded. All rifles back then wee far from fast to load and were quite heavy. They were virtualy useless in a home invasion battle. Fur trppe5rs passed on musket type rifle to Native Americans. THey wre badly outgunned when migrating white people had leveer action rifles that we much lighter, could fire faster and held more ammunition without reloading. But for defense, a six round revolver works quite well as does a bolt action rifle, especialy if it has a scope sight.

  11. The hypocrisy is galactic in this one. She is so concerned over a firearm that was manufactured solely for the civilian market, was never intended to be weapon of war, nor has it ever been used as a weapon of war, but was used to kill 17 children. However being a democrat, I am quite sure she supports Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry that has brutally butchered more than 60,000,000 children since roe v wade. That is genocide.
