And no matter how much you believe “your guy” getting in office is going to fix things — it won’t happen.
Trump is not “draining the swamp” and I’m as happy as can be that it’s not Hillary in office, but you have to understand …
Trump Is NOT Your Savior!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an election like this one …
People were more divided than ever before, but except for maybe Obama, I’ve never seen so much “hope” put into one candidate before.
In fact, just check out this one comment from a reader on the blog here:
“My MAIN support of Trump was out of FEAR. Clinton SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME!!!! In my mind, a scenario went like someone would claim my weapon at my door, I would use it to fire my refusal, they would shoot me down, and Clinton would win another political victory.
I truly was afraid of the possibily that Clintonh would win. DEATHLY AFRAID. From FEAR, I screwed many things in my life, paid a $20 taxi ride, all so I could vote for Trump at the poll station. I viewed this as an emergency that reqirred my IMMEDIATE attention, and that is what it got. I have high blood pressure, and I was in PANIC mode until I was SURE that Trump had won.
Note that I was in PANIC again when I thought that the electorate could have denied him his goal. I was dismally ill on that night.”
Many people have been incredibly emotionally invested in the outcome of the recent presidential election and especially in Trump.
In short, we are in the honeymoon period where many people think he is a savior that will fix all of America’s problems.
Sorry.
That’s not gonna happen …
Trump is NOT Going To “Create Jobs”
First off, no president — Trump included — “creates jobs”.
That’s what you, me and the guy down the street do.
The ONLY thing that a president can do that could even reomotely allow him to take credit for “creating jobs” is to get the heck out of the way!
On that point, if Trump actually does what he has promised … which is cut taxes and regulations … he may create a more ideal “pro job environment” but he is still impotent when it comes to creating jobs.
Guess who creates jobs?
The guy in your community who owns the farm, the corner store, or the truck and does handyman work.
Or You do.
That’s America. That’s the source of jobs.
Trump has nothing to do with it. Obama had nothing to do with it.
You want a job? Find one.
Can’t find one? Create one by starting a business.
In short, don’t hold your breath — not much will change with Trump in office — if you need a job find it yourself or create one because he won’t do it for you.
Trump Is NOT Going To “Drain The Swamp”
Remember Trump saying this to Hillary?
“But if I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation, because there has never been so many lies, so much deception. There has never been anything like it, and we’re going to have a special prosecutor.”
It was just seconds after Trump won when he said this in his victory speech:
“TRUMP: I’ve just received a call from Secretary Clinton. (APPLAUSE) She congratulated us — it’s about us — on our victory, and I congratulated her and her family on a very, very hard-fought campaign. I mean, she — she fought very hard. Hillary has worked very long and very hard over a long period of time, and we owe her a major debt of gratitude for her service to our country.
(APPLAUSE) I mean that very sincerely. (APPLAUSE)
Now it’s time for America to bind the wounds of division; have to get together. To all Republicans and Democrats and independents across this nation, I say it is time for us to come together as one united people.”
And Politico explains how Trump is already backing away from the “Drain The Swamp” campaign promise too:
“President-elect Donald Trump campaigned on a promise to “drain the swamp” in Washington of corruption, but now that he’s preparing to move into the White House, Newt Gingrich said the Manhattan real estate mogul is looking to distance himself from that message.
“I’m told he now just disclaims that. He now says it was cute, but he doesn’t want to use it anymore,” the former House Speaker and close Trump adviser said of the “drain the swamp” message in an NPR interview published Wednesday morning.
Trump’s Cabinet and other high-level appointments seem to have deviated somewhat from his “drain the swamp” message. After attacking Democrat Hillary Clinton regularly throughout the campaign for being too close to Wall Street banks, Trump has put three former Goldman Sachs executives in prominent White House positions, including Steven Mnuchin as treasury secretary, Steve Bannon as chief White House strategist and Gary Cohn as the director of the National Economic Council.”
In other words, Trump is surrounding himself with the same bankers and Wall Street Executives, war hawks and other financial and global power elites that have been running the FedGov behind the scenes for some time now.
Trump Can NOT Fix The Debt-Ridden, Economic Mess That Is The Federal Government
This is not a knock against Trump.
This is just basic math.
Nobody can fix the Federal Government and its economic mess.
To quote Richard Maybury, from his latest Early Warning Report newsletter:
“No one can fix the federal government. Its unfunded liabilities, which are the money it does not have, to pay all the obligations politicians have incurred, is $104 trillion. That’s $874,000 per taxpayer. An average family of four is on the hook for $3.5 million over and above
present taxes.
Hopeless, entirely hopeless. In 1966, economist Howard Kershner warned, “When a self-governing people confer upon their government the power to take from some and give to others, the process will not stop until the last bone of the last taxpayer is picked bare.”
The only thing to do is stand aside and let the federal government go ahead and commit economic suicide. Do not get in the way.”
Keep in mind, as Maybury says often, the Federal Government and the country are not the same thing. The country, America, can survive without the FedGov.
At the end of the day, the FedGov collects TRILLIONS of dollars every year in taxes and spends it all, and goes into debt to spend more.
It’s hopeless. There are 4 million government employees who will not go away quietly. And then there’s the defense spending …
Trump Is NOT Going To Win The Global War On Terror
One of Trump’s promises is to “rebuild our depleted military”.
Umm …
To quote NationalPriorities.org, “In fiscal year 2015, military spending is projected to account for 54 percent of all federal discretionary spending, a total of $598.5 billion. Military spending includes: all regular activities of the Department of Defense; war spending; nuclear weapons spending; international military assistance; and other Pentagon-related spending.”
And also (emphasis mine)… “U.S. military expenditures are roughly the size of the next seven largest military budgets around the world, combined.”
We don’t exactly have a “depleted” military.
The reason that the “Global War on Terror” has not been won and will never be won is because you can not fight a tactic. You can fight a person, a people, or group of people but “Terror” is just a tactic.
Just like the “War on Poverty” and the “War on Drugs”, the “War on Terror” can not be won.
It’s an ambiguous term and mission statement so that the FedGov can pursue whatever agenda they desire anywhere in the world with little accountability to anyone.
Speaking constitutionally, National Defense is a legitimate function of the FedGov, but it’s not as if our military is lacking …
If it was actually being used for defense.
Instead the U.S. Military is currently involved in GWOT in the middle east while simultaneously promising to back NATO against Russia and arguing with China over islands in the South China Sea.
It’s spread thin if anything.
Increasing defense spending will of course increase the deficit and make the FedGov’s spending problems worse.
Instead, Trump should stick to his promises on the campaign trail, namely …
“We will pursue a new foreign policy that finally learns from the mistakes of the past. We will stop looking to topple regimes and overthrow governments. …In our dealings with other countries we will seek shared interests wherever possible…”
… and this …
“We don’t want to have a depleted military because we’re all over the place fighting in areas that we shouldn’t be fighting in. It’s not going to be depleted any longer,” he said.
But I don’t think that’s gonna happen.
In Summary, Trump is NOT Your Savior, You Are!
Look, I’m not bashing Trump.
I think out of all the Presidents I’ve seen in the last 20 years, I sincerely like him the best.
But he’s no savior.
Because at the end of the day he’s just the “figure head” at the front of the FedGov machine that’s working behind him.
He has no real power.
And the FedGov has become a leviathon that exists simply to feed and grow itself like an insidious cancer.
No one man can change the direction of the machine enough to positively affect your life.
Yes, I’m beyond thrilled that Hillary is not heading for the White House.
In other words, you’re still on your own.
But that’s the beauty of living in America! Even with all the crap we’re dealing with, it’s still one of the free-est nations on earth and you can still change your life with your own brain and your own two hands.
So stop waiting for Trump to save you and get to saving yourself.
