Imagine that you (or your wife or daughter) were being followed when driving around town. They call 911, and the operator tells you to go to a police station which you do. When you get there, two police officers come out to talk to the guy who has been following you. Then, the unthinkable happens.
What do you do?
In case you’re wondering, this isn’t a made-up scenario. This actually happened to an unfortunate woman in the gun control “paradise” of California. Carlos Garcia writes,
California police released shocking body camera footage showing an attack on officers in front of a police station in the city of La Habra.
The video footage was from a lethal incident that took place on August 6, 2021, after a woman called police at about 7 p.m. to report a man following her on the freeway. She drove to the La Habra police station and he followed her.
That would be scary enough, but when police walked up to the guy (who had walked to the front of the police station) to talk to him, the guy opened fire on police without warning and, as you can see in the video below, unprovoked. You can watch a compilation of bodycam and surveillance video footage of the situation below. Warning: scenes of violence (people being shot) can be seen in the video below.
Officer Milward was shot twice, and Officer Fox’s returned fire fatally injured the gunman.
Garcia continues:
Milward was hospitalized and released a week later. He had been wearing body armor and suffered minor injuries.
After a months-long investigation, Fox was cleared in the shooting. Prosecutors said the shooting was justified because she didn’t have time to de-escalate the situation or use less-than-lethal force. The prosecutor’s report also said that an autopsy found amphetamine, marijuana, and methamphetamine in Tran’s system.
Here are the things to take away from this entire incident: First, situational awareness is vital at all times. If this lady had not noticed that she was being followed, who knows what horrible things may have happened to her?
Second, if Officer Fox had not had a firearm on her person at the time of the shooting, it’s very possible that both officers and the lady who had been followed could all be dead, now.
Since police cannot physically be everywhere at once, you have to be your own defender. That means that you should have your firearm near you at all times and be trained and ready to use it if you find yourself in the horrible situation in which that is necessary. The life that you save may be your own.
