A big question on the minds of most parents in America is “How can we prevent our children from being killed in a school shooting?” It’s a question rooted in the powerful emotions that parents have for their children. They deeply care for and want to protect their kids.
So, school shootings, while, thankfully, uncommon, are an area of big concern (which the incessant over-the-top “reporting” of by the left-wing mainstream legacy media doesn’t help).
After all, our kids are our future.
Of course, anti-2A zealots want to blame the guns for the problem and never seem to want to look deeper into what might be driving these horrible situations to occur. And, on the (very) rare occasion that they do consider anything more than blaming the gun, it is to blame “MAGA Republicans” or political conservatives for the bloodshed.
Which doesn’t explain what could be becoming a trend in school shootings that doesn’t fit the supposed Republican or MAGA pattern that anti-2A activists want to blame. See if you can spot it in today’s story. Katabella Roberts writes,
Police have arrested and charged a transgender teenager who was allegedly planning to commit a school shooting at a Montgomery County school, according to officials.
Andrea Ye, 18, of Rockville, Maryland, was arrested by Montgomery County police on Thursday following a joint investigation with the FBI’s Baltimore Field Office, law enforcement officials said in a press release.
That probe was launched after police were made aware of a “memoir” Ye allegedly authored which portrays a character committing a school shooting and strategizing about how to carry out the act, police said.
Ye also contemplated targeting an elementary school in the memoir and wrote about becoming famous, according to law enforcement officials.
After the Nashville school shooting a year ago, this is something to be concerned about if it is a rising trend. And if it is a trend, we should be asking, “What could be driving it?
Roger Simon has some very definite thoughts on it, and he blames the use of pharmaceuticals which so many active shooters seem to be on, whether anti-depressants (which can cause outbursts of violence, at least in some people) or other types of pharmaceuticals. Simon writes,
Here’s what I said, verbatim, on the radio the other day:
‘I think the real issue here is scientific, and here’s what I mean: A lot of research is being done now on what drugs do to people […]. It’s quite real, and it’s not just hormone treatments, it is also things like Prozac, which tend to reverse on them.’
So, Simon is saying that he thinks that taking pharmaceuticals, including cross-sex hormones, could be causing individuals taking these drugs to do terrible things.
Is that the case? I can’t say for sure.
But I can say that we need to be willing to ask hard questions about how pharmaceutical use in teenagers and young adults affects them and drives dangerous behavior.
And we need to be willing to ask those questions so that we can save the lives of more children who could become shooting victims if we don’t ask the questions.
