Prepared Gun Owners

If They Can’t Keep These People From Getting Firearms, How Do They Expect To Keep Us Safe?

One of the most bizarre things about anti-2A thinking is the idea that the government can somehow, magically prevent gun violence and gun crime from happening just by making them illegal.

It hasn’t exactly been successful at doing that, yet, they keep trying to ban guns under the excuse of saving lives when the exact opposite is what shows to be true in reality (the more legal gun owners, the less gun violence and less crime overall). And that’s true everywhere, not just in the U.S.

Understand that political leftists will keep pushing that same narrative of less guns equals less crime and a safer society because the government can keep us safe. It’s a nice fairy tale, after all.

If that is true, though, then, they need to be able to explain why it isn’t working in multiple specific situations, two of which we’ll cover today. For the first one, Candace Hathaway writes,

Democratic leaders have long since claimed that sanctuary policies, which prevent local law enforcement agencies from coordinating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, protect foreign nationals who are contributing members of the community.

While illegal aliens were promised a sanctuary, a new report from the Boston Herald revealed that the situation in Massachusetts’ state-run emergency shelters has turned into more of a nightmare.

A stack of incident reports obtained by the news outlet through a public records request showed that the state’s sanctuary policies are failing not only American citizens but also the illegal aliens they supposedly protect.

Note, I am not saying that most illegal immigrants are violent criminals. After all, other illegal immigrants in the situation described above are the victims of crime.

What I am saying is that the government can’t prevent that violent crime even in shelters that they run. If they can’t prevent violent crime in a building that they run and can have surveillance on 24/7, how in the world are they going to be able to protect you and me?

Answer: They can’t.

And on to the second story. Leon Wolf writes,

An illegal immigrant from Honduras was arrested in Haines City, Florida, on Sunday after he allegedly attempted to kill his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend and instead accidentally shot off his own finger.

Wait a minute… How did this illegal immigrant get his hands on a firearm? He couldn’t have passed a background check, could he?

Which seems to indicate that he had the firearm illegally and intended to commit a murder with it.

According to anti-2A zealot logic, that can’t happen.

But it did.

The fact of the matter is that the government can’t be everywhere at once to prevent every crime from happening. And, therefore, legal gun ownership should be even more common than it is now so that people can protect themselves.

Because, as has been said before, when your life is on the line and you only have seconds, the police are minutes away.
