Home Invasion: What Would You Do?

It’s the horrible scenario that nearly everyone has nightmares about: a home invasion.

What would you do?

How would you protect yourself? Your significant other? Your kids, if you have them?

These are all questions that you really should think through. Of course, that’s knowing that “no plan survives contact with the enemy.”

Still, as General and President Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “In preparing for battle, I have always found that plans are useless but planning is indispensable.”

So, how will you plan for a home invasion if it happens to you?

An interesting way to consider this question is to see a real life home invasion and consider what the resident did right and what they could improve and in this way to better plan and better your odds of both safety and coming out on top if you have to deal with that situation.

Fortunately for us, Caleb Lee with Patriot Training Center has exactly that kind of video for us, and he also provides feedback on what was done right and on what could be improved so that you can take that into consideration in your planning and training for dealing with a home invasion.

You can watch that video below.

Now, as Caleb said, good for the victim in this situation for being armed and ready to defend himself and his significant other when the time came.

An often unstated, but vital, part of the successful self-defense mentality has to do with intent. With all the training in the world but no intent, you won’t use the training. Intent and training go together to make sure that you have the best chance to survive a dangerous situation.

I can’t emphasize how important intent is.

Fortunately, the victim in this situation had intent. With training, he could have very well minimized injury to himself and his girlfriend, too, and with that in mind, I recommend consistently training to keep yourself prepared.
