The overwhelming majority of anti-2A people are on the political left, and if there’s one thing that those on the political left get wrong, it’s the causes of crime and how to control it.
Or, some may cynically argue, they know exactly what causes crime, and they actively work to increase it. After all, what do they really expect to happen by decriminalizing “minor” offenses like shoplifting, by eliminating the requirement of a cash bond, and by letting convicted criminals off with light sentences?
Whether they are really trying to make things worse, their actions certainly have that effect.
Fortunately, the way to control crime is pretty straightforward and is known to anyone not being intentionally delusional:
It’s to send in people, armed with firearms, who will go in and take criminals off of the street.
Of course, I’m referring to law enforcement, not people being vigilantes (which has all kinds of consequences that you may not like). Fortunately, the Trump administration knows this information and are putting it into action. Savannah Hulsey Pointer writes,
President Donald Trump and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel announced the results of the FBI’s Operation Summer Heat from the Oval Office on Oct. 15.
According to the president, federal law enforcement was “in many cities that people didn’t know about,” and the results were substantial.
Hulsey continues:
The operation targeted violent criminals, gang members, fugitives, property crimes, child exploitation, and drug trafficking. With a mission to “crush violent crime” with the use of federal resources supporting state and local agencies, the government operated in many major cities across the country.
“We kept it a little quiet, and it had a big impact,” Trump said from the White House, saying the program arrested thousands of the “most dangerous and violent people in the world.”
How many people were arrested?
Trump and Patel spoke to the national results of the program, saying that the DOJ and local partners arrested over 8,700 violent criminals during the course of Operation Summer Heat in major cities nationwide.
8,700.
I’m tempted to quip that that’s more violent criminals than the Biden administration arrested over their four year assault on democracy… I mean, over the four years that Biden was in the White House.
That’s a lot of violent criminals off of the streets, and that’s what law enforcement should be doing.
Now, we just need to see these kinds of law enforcement activities initiated and run on the local level to keep people safe even in blue cities.
Oh, and turning all 50 states into true Constitutional carry zones will help, too.
How do you stop crime? You get criminals off of the streets, and you make the ones considering doing criminal activities nervous enough about it to reconsider and, instead, decide to go with the straight and narrow. That works out better for everyone.
