There’s a saying that you’ve likely heard that goes “Haters gonna hate,” and that absolutely applies to anti-2A politicians when it comes to the Second Amendment.
Those hypocritical politicians who swear oaths to uphold the Constitution keep trying their hardest to steal yours and my Second Amendment rights.
Even if it means openly defying the federal government (yes, the same federal government that they said that red states couldn’t defy when a Democrat was in the White House).
And that’s exactly what 20% of the states in the union are looking at doing: defying the federal government’s policy changing to more correctly reflect the Second Amendment, which “shall not be infringed” (hat tip to here for the lead). Scott Witner writes,
Nearly twenty years after Congress passed a law shielding gun manufacturers from being sued over crimes committed with their firearms, several blue states believe they’ve found a way around it.
Since 2021, 10 states have enacted legislation to make it easier to sue gun companies and retailers in court. The newest example is Connecticut, where a law that took effect this month allows lawsuits against firearm makers and dealers if they fail to take “reasonable precautions” to keep guns out of the hands of prohibited persons or those who might use them for self-harm or violence. Other states have taken a broader approach, allowing lawsuits against companies accused of creating a “public nuisance” through the marketing or sale of firearms.
It’s absolutely appalling that those states think that they have the right to try to circumvent the Second Amendment by going after firearms manufacturers.
But anti-2A activists aren’t about doing the right thing or about the truth, especially when it comes to the causes of gun violence and how to decrease it.
No, those activists are all about control and forcing their beliefs on you instead of allowing people to be left alone.
Those people should have paid attention in their high school civics class. If more of them had, maybe we wouldn’t be in this situation.
