USPS Finally Has To Do The Right Thing With Guns

How does it make any sense to have the Second Amendment enshrined into Constitutional law, but the same federal government that is required to enforce and abide by that Constitution blatantly disregards it when it comes to your rights in certain places?

Of course, it doesn’t make sense, not in this world or any other world, but the U.S. Postal Service has been denying legal gun owners the right to carry in Post Offices for years.

Or, at least, they had been preventing that. To reference Bob Dylan, the times, they are a-changin’, though. An article at the Crime Prevention Research Center notes:

A September decision by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas ruled that the law banning concealed “is unconstitutional under the Second Amendment with respect to Plaintiffs’ (and their members) possession and carrying of firearms inside of an ordinary United States Post Office or the surrounding Post Office property.”

This policy statement by the USPS means the elimination of post offices as gun-free zones.

This is absolutely the right decision by the court. Post Offices should have never been gun-free zones. In fact, federal law shouldn’t even be able to create gun-free zones because gun-free zones are a blatant violation of the Second Amendment.

Before we get too excited, though, the article continues:

However, this is just the Trump administration policy, and a future Democrat administration could limit the decision to just plaintiffs involved in the original lawsuit.

And I would completely expect a future Democrat administration to do exactly that. After all, with rare exceptions, modern Democrats have never met a gun control law that they didn’t support.

Which is just an indication of how little those on the political left value your rights at all. They don’t value rights unless those rights are a tool to force you to do what they want to do.

Which is to say, they don’t value rights. They just use the term as a weapon, and that’s why we have to continue to educate people and to do all that we legally and morally can do to prevent anti-2A people from getting into office or into positions of bureaucratic authority in the government.
