There are some legitimately crazy people in the world.
Fortunately, most crazy people aren’t a danger to other people, only to themselves. But there are a few people out there who are both crazy and who also seem perfectly willing, even happy, to hurt other people.
All of it based on their delusion.
Which leads us to today’s story: a woman gives what may be the single most insane “reason” for shooting another person that you’ll ever hear. I’ll leave you to decide if she is playing crazy to give a legal defense angle or if she is really that mentally unbalanced. Carlos Garcia gives us the details:
A strange criminal case got even more bizarre when the suspect of a gas station shooting appeared to confess in a video on social media.
Shantay Lashay O’Donnell, 46, of Virginia was caught on surveillance video allegedly pulling out a gun at the Columbia, Maryland, gas station and pulling the trigger.
Police said she was trying to rob the store but left without anything in the April 24 incident, as reported previously by Blaze News.
Garcia continues:
In the days following the shooting, O’Donnell allegedly posted a video confessing to the crime and laughing about the victim.
“I’m the one that did the shooting at the gas station,” she said in the video.
“I shot that man because he has a demon spirit, and he laughed in my face and thought it was funny. I bet he ain’t laughing now,” she added.
Bizarre.
If this weren’t so disturbing, I’d consider it a bit of dumb crook news, but she shot a guy for the most bizarre reason, the kind of reason that makes you wonder who really has the “demon spirit” that she was talking about.
Whatever your thoughts on demon spirits, shootings for these kinds of bizarre reasons are thankfully rare, but don’t let the rarity be an excuse to not carry daily. I’m sure the guy who was shot didn’t expect that day to be his day to have a gun pulled on him, and you don’t want that to happen to you without you having the ability to fight back.
