New ATF Director CHANGES Agency Direction

It’s been a long time coming, but it’s good to finally see a director of a federal agency that has long been hostile towards legal gun owners state his intention to move that agency in the right direction.

In fact, it’s long past time for that to have happened (if we aren’t going to get rid of that agency outright).

Now, if you haven’t already guessed, I’m talking about the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, which has a new director appointed by President Trump.

And I have to say that I really like a statement that the new director made. Michael Clements writes,

Robert Cekada, the newly confirmed director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), wants to refocus the agency’s efforts on fighting violent crime rather than regulating legal gun ownership.

“We should be focusing on the criminals, not each other,” Cekada told the Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on Thursday.

After all of these years of the ATF going after average, everyday, law-abiding Americans for their gun ownership, it’s great to see someone take the helm that has the right way of thinking about it.

Because, remember, we have both the Second Amendment in place and, also, the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, neither of which the ATF has followed much in the last several years, especially under the Biden administration, under which the ATF was actively hostile towards those who valued their Second Amendment rights.

So, what happens now?

We’ll have to see. But there have already been 34 new ATF rules that have been proposed, many of which are clearly about allowing people to have their Second Amendment rights back.

I’d say that’s a move in the right direction.

Now, if Trump and Congress can just be persuaded to ban all anti-2A legislation across the country and to abolish the ATF completely, I’ll be much happier with the situation.
