Terror attacks are among the most awful of all types of violent attacks because the attack is over belief systems and not over things that can more often be talked out to avoid violence. But when someone has come to the point that they believe that violence is an acceptable way to “make their point,” that means that many innocent people are much more likely to be hurt.
Which brings us to the story that we’re talking about today: what is being called a terrorist attack on a pride parade in Berlin, Germany. (Note: This is a different incident that the shooting in Germany that we talked about earlier this month. It seems that Germany is having an especially terrible month for violent incidents hurting multiple people.)
A news story from Reuters gives us details of the story that we’re talking about today:
One person has been killed and 17 injured, with some in life-threatening condition, after a vehicle mowed down a crowd near Berlin’s Pride celebrations on Saturday evening, setting off a manhunt for those responsible, the police said.Hours after the apparent attack many details remained unclear, but police said the vehicle struck multiple people after charging into the city’s central Tiergarten park close to the Brandenburg Gate.
Now, it’s worth noting that the suspected attacker has been shot and killed by law enforcement.
But here’s the thing, many terror attacks could be stopped if someone, anyone has been on the scene with both a firearm and training on how to effectively use it.
That doesn’t appear to be the case here, though (police shot the attacker after hunting for him).
The fact of the matter is, no matter how often anti-2A activists try to gaslight us into believing otherwise, a good guy or gal with a gun is most often what stops a mass injury or mass casualty event. In fact, you often don’t hear about these events because they are stopped before the injury and death count reach levels that the news wants to cover.
And if Germany didn’t have such strict gun control laws and anti-gun government propaganda being regularly put out, you have to wonder how many of the people who were injured in this incident (or how many people who have been injured or killed in other incidents) wouldn’t have been injured because the threat had been stopped.
Gun control directly contributes to these kinds of tragedies, and it should be ended everywhere immediately.
