This Superstar ‘Always’ Carried A Gun

Many people simply don’t know how “normal” celebrities often are.

Now, don’t misunderstand me. I’m not suggesting that there aren’t celebrities who haven’t let their fame (and money) go to their heads leading them to start acting like Alec Baldwin in really unpleasant ways to the people around them.

But many celebrities really are still just rather normal people who are working in high profile work, and the paparazzi machine makes them seem larger than life.

If you meet them away from the cameras when they can simply have a conversation, they’re surprisingly normal people who just want to spend time with their families and do things like every other average person does.

And, yes, that includes carrying a gun for self-protection.

Now, if you’re a fan of the superstar that we’re talking about today, you might actually not be surprised that she carried a gun on her person regularly. After all, she always seemed like a regular, everyday person.

Who are we talking about? Dolly Parton. A writer only listed as TTAG News Contributor writes,

Dolly Parton died Tuesday at 80, and the tributes have poured in for the music, the movies, and the boundless philanthropy. Here’s one more thing worth remembering about the country legend: she was a gun owner who carried for self-defense, said so plainly, and never once seemed embarrassed by it.

The article continues:

“I always carry a gun,” she said. “A .38 pistol. I have a permit for it in Nashville. I just carry it for protection. I feel safer when I’ve got it. I just don’t like the idea of knowin’ I’m totally helpless.”

If you weren’t already a Dolly Parton fan, this should make you reconsider that. Why? Because she was right on point about always carrying, being comfortable with it, and understanding a big reason why it is important to carry every day.
