I have what is considered a controversial viewpoint to some people.
That viewpoint? I think most every adult in America should own a firearm.
Not I’m not saying that I think that every adult should be forced to have a firearm.
I’m saying that I think that it would be a good idea for every adult American to have a firearm, to train to proficiency, to train to maintain proficiency, and to carry that firearm daily.
It’s about self-protection from bullies of every kind, really.
And I’ll go a step further to suggest that it would be a good idea to also have a PDW, a personal defense weapon.
But buying additional guns can get expensive. Which is why some people may appreciate that Taurus, a brand known for being on the budget side of the range in terms of the price of their firearms, has a PDW out. Scott Murdock gives us details:
The all-new Taurus RPC is making a splash because as what could be the best budget PDW you can buy. With a roller-delayed action, modular design, and sub-$1,000 MSRP, I can see what the chatter is all about.
This review is for all of you who want to get into the PDW game, but want to have money left over for a few accessories and a whole bunch of ammo.
And Murdock’s second paragraph really sums up what Taurus seems to be aiming for with their firearms.
But “budget” sometimes means poor quality. Is that the case with this gun? Murdock finishes up his review of that gun by saying,
The Taurus RPC is arguably the most affordable mid-tier PDW, depending on where you draw that line. It’s fun to shoot, and I love that Taurus is taking a modular approach to the platform. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for new barrels, handguards, and receivers in the near future.
For now, I consider this a fun range gun and an inexpensive entry point into the PDW game. If Taurus sorts out a few snags, it could be a viable defensive option, too.
So, is the Taurus RPC is a good choice for your next gun purchase? That really depends on what you want from the purchase. But if you’re wanting to dip your toe into the PDW market, this may be a model to consider.
