Why is it that the people who want to take your guns and my guns are so often the exact same types of people that they use as an excuse to take our guns?
Recent charges against a legislator in Virginia prove that example once again.
So, let me set the stage for you: Louise Lucas, according to Ballotpedia, is the state Senate pro tempore in Virginia which means that she is the second highest ranking Senator in that state Senate currently.
Which makes the remainder of this story even more ironic.
She has also actively worked to limit Second Amendment rights of the people in Virginia including sponsoring bills to make it illegal to buy or sell “assault firearms.”
You know, the standard anti-2A legislative push.
But it seems that Lucas has some legal trouble of her own going on. Jack Phillips writes,
Federal officials announced on Thursday that Virginia Senate President Pro Tempore L. Louise Lucas, a longtime Democratic power broker in the state, was arrested on charges of drug trafficking and money laundering.
The charges stem from a corruption investigation into a family-run marijuana business, among other allegations detailed in an indictment that was unsealed Thursday.
Now, if the FBI were to arrest you or I on these types of charges, chances are that we would be sent to jail for a long, long time. Lucas, on the other hand, takes a tried and true tactic from her side of the political aisle to try to avoid the legal consequences of her actions. Phillips continues:
In a statement on social media, the Democratic state lawmaker responded by claiming the charges are political in nature and suggesting she is the victim of a racially motivated probe.
Now, to be clear, am I saying that there have never been racially or politically motivated prosecutions? No, I’m not saying that, and I think that any prosecution that is racially or politically motivated should never happen and the people pushing those should themselves be charged.
Having said that, I don’t get the impression that this is either racially or politically motivated on the part of the FBI. It just sounds like they believe that they have enough evidence of illegal activities to convict an anti-2A legislator of doing criminal things.
And more than anyone else, who doesn’t want you to have firearms? Criminals who want to force you to do what they want you to do.
It sure sounds like Lucas is a typical anti-2A politician, doesn’t it?
