‘Ridiculously Fun’ Plinking Gun

When it comes to being in the firearms world, many people (most people?) focus on the practical aspects of firearms: self-protection, hunting, things like that. And those are all incredibly important.

But one aspect that doesn’t get nearly as much attention when discussing firearms is the fun aspect.

Yes, despite the viewpoints of panicked anti-2A activists whose adrenaline spikes whenever they see a firearm anywhere at any time, many people are involved with firearms because target shooting is fun.

And that’s true whether you’re talking about formal competitive shooting meets or whether you’re talking about plinking in your backyard or on your hunting lease.

It’s just plain fun.

And if you don’t have a plinking gun that you enjoy shooting, Walther has one that one reviewer called “ridiculously fun.” Brian McCombie writes,

After more than 250 rounds, the optics-ready Walther WMP proved accurate, comfortable, and ridiculously fun. Its 15+1 capacity, .40-inch best group, and surprising .22 WMR energy make this full-sized rimfire far more than a casual plinker.

MacCombie continues:

The Walther WMP review started with plinking and accuracy, but the pistol kept showing that it could cover more ground. Its combination of 15+1 capacity, low recoil, practical controls, excellent accuracy, and optics-ready versatility gives it real value as a recreational pistol, hunting sidearm, and possible defensive option.

Now, if you’re not interested in the fun aspect of shooting, if plinking isn’t your thing, should you get one of these pistols? Obviously, that depends on your goals and what you want out of your guns.

If you’re looking for something for self-defense, .22 of any sort, including .22 WMR, isn’t usually recommended for self-protection, but if low recoil to get back on target quickly and to give you great accuracy on follow up shots is the single most important thing to you, then this could be a viable choice for self-defense. After all, lower powered accuracy will always be more effective than higher powered missed shots.

But if, on the other hand, a fun pistol is on your list for your next gun purchase, then this may be one to consider.
