Anti-2A HYPOCRISY: Congressional Aide Arrested For Violating U.S. Capitol 2A Rules

The hypocrisy of anti-2A politicians and bureaucrats knows no bounds.

Or, at least, that seems to be the lesson that you would learn from a recent situation that happened at the Capitol in Washington, D.C.

See, anti-2A politicians and bureaucrats like to talk about and brag about how much they care about the little people (meaning people who aren’t in D.C., it seems) and how much that they want to keep us safe by keeping those big bad guns and all of that scary ammunition out of our hands.

But, as is so often the case with these types of things, those kinds of guidelines are do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do. In other words, they only think that being disarmed applies to you or me.

Now, here’s the backstory: Joe Morelle is an anti-2A Representative from New York’s 25th district. And it’s not just me saying that. His own website brags about how he’s pushed for more and more gun control. But apparently Morelle’s staffers didn’t get that message. Zachary Stieber writes,

Capitol Police officers arrested Michael Hopkins, a staffer for Rep. Joe Morelle (D-N.Y.) at the U.S. Capitol on Dec. 2.

Officers manning a checkpoint saw on the X-ray screen what appeared to be ammunition in a bag being screened, the Capitol Police said.

“After a hand search of the bag, officers found four ammunition magazines and eleven rounds of ammunition. The staffer told the officers that he forgot the ammunition was in the bag,” a spokesperson for the agency, which is responsible for keeping members of Congress and congressional buildings safe, told The Epoch Times via email.

Hopkins, 38, was arrested and is facing charges of illegally possessing ammunition, including possession of a high-capacity magazine, according to the Capitol Police.

Visitors to the Capitol are barred from carrying guns, ammunition, replica guns, and electric stun guns, among other items. Visitors are subjected to magnetometers before entering the complex.

Knowing how much his boss hates guns and knowing the rules at the Capitol, you would think that something like ammunition in his bag would be something that a Congressional staffer would remember, right?

I mean, anti-2A politicians don’t tend to be casual about firearms and trying to control and ban them, so, you would think that a staffer would keep that in mind as just one of the basics of their job.

But that assumes that the rules that they want to apply to you and me are the same rules that they will live by. And that’s just not the case.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Anti-2A politicians and bureaucrats are hypocrites on so many issues, and especially when it comes to firearms. Even people who voted for these people deserve better than that.

  1. Even people who voted for these people deserve better than that?? Not so much I think. If you’re stupid enough to vote for these people, you deserve what you get.
