Women Need Firearms. Here’s Why

I am so tired of hearing anti-2A activists saying with one breath that they care about women, that they want to support and help women, and with the other breath saying that they want gun control.

You can’t have it both ways.

I’m not being flippant here. I’m dead serious.

And here’s why: Most physical altercations involving women are violence against women by men. So, in a physical altercation, women nearly always are the one who is less physically strong and are, therefore, at a disadvantage in the encounter.

It shouldn’t be that way, though. Women should be safe.

So, how can we do that? By arming women. By making sure that women can legally get a firearm to carry on their person and that those women can train to be proficient with those firearms.

Why? Because a firearm is a force equalizer. It’s what allows a woman to be able to effectively protect herself from a man who is being aggressive.

Need an example of what I mean? I have one for you right now. Dave Urbanski writes,

A stalker showed up at a woman’s workplace in Pensacola, Florida, on Monday morning and began punching her, police said.

But the victim had a gun on her and shot the male once in the leg in self-defense, police added.

This towering example of masculinity (note my sarcasm) who felt that it was acceptable to find a woman so that he could punch her repeatedly also had marijuana and cocaine on him when arrested.

I’m guessing that he won’t be out of jail anytime soon.

But what would have happened if she hadn’t had that gun on her?

We know all too well what would have happened. This situation has played out many, many times, especially where women haven’t been able to get a firearm to protect themselves with. When that happens, the woman is beat up. Maybe killed.

All because she couldn’t legally get a firearm to protect herself with.

But when women can carry and train to proficiency with a firearm, they are much less likely to be the victim of violent crime. And that’s why I say that women need firearms.
