When it comes to politics, most people expect that hit pieces are going to be written about different politicians and political parties. And when someone has taken the wrong side on issues of the Second Amendment, I have no problem calling them out on it.
On the other hand, I’m not a fan of the way that many hit pieces are written, the angle that they take, because they’re often based off of petty power struggles and not based on principle and disagreement over policies.
It reminds me of one of my favorite jokes: Do you know where the word “politics” comes from? “Poli” comes from the Latin meaning “many,” and tics are small blood sucking creatures.
That answer is both linguistically inaccurately and factually true in how politics too often works in the real world.
It’s one of those petty blood sucking creatures things that seems to behind a recent hit piece against Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman. And if you look closely, you’ll find it interesting one of the “criticisms” against him in the hit piece. Jack Phillips writes,
Earlier this week, New York Magazine, citing sources and an email written by Fetterman’s former chief of staff, released an article saying that he has been missing health checkups, had purchased a gun, and was driving recklessly. The article sought to paint the senator, who suffered a stroke while on the campaign trail in 2022, as becoming increasingly erratic.
Fetterman said the report “involved maybe two or three anonymous disgruntled staffers,” saying “false things.”
“My doctors have confirmed that that is not the case,” he said of the allegations about his behavior, adding that he is following a strict protocol prescribed by his doctors.
Now, I have no personal knowledge of Fetterman’s health. I’ve never met the guy.
It does seem rather… suspicious… though, that this hit piece came out of Fetterman made it clear that he is one of the few Democrats who are willing to work with the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress to actually do good things for the nation.
Whether you agree or disagree with Trump’s policies, Democrats’ policies, or anyone else’s policies, Fetterman’s lack of partisanship is refreshing to hear from a Democrat.
And did you notice the concerning signs about Fetterman that the article listed? They said that “he has been missing health checkups, had purchased a gun, and was driving recklessly.” As if owning a gun is a sign of a physical and mental health breakdown.
Sounds like an article written by a left-leaning partisan hack, doesn’t it?
Now, I don’t know whether Fetterman owns a gun or not. But owning a gun is still legal for most people, even in blue states, so, if he wants to do that, more power to him.
Frankly, the insulting and infuriating bias by the legacy mainstream media (such as New York Magazine) is disgusting, and they wonder why people don’t trust them anymore.
