It’s a fascinating thing to see the hypocrisy of the anti-2A movement. They keep talking about wanting to save lives, but when it comes to ways to do that, what they recommend, what they push for is the exact opposite of what would actually help.
They’re an oxymoron to themselves.
And I’m not just being mean here. If we’re talking about saving lives, then shouldn’t we look at what is causing the most deaths and trying to address the causes of that issue?
That would make sense, right? Go after what is the biggest killer of people so that more people’s lives can be saved.
Yet, the anti-2A movement pushes for guun control, which doesn’t save lives overall (and often causes more assaults and murders to occur).
If they really wanted to save lives, they could focus on another thing, which I’ll illustrate with a recent news story out of Florida (hat tip to here for the lead). Luke McCoy writes,
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began with a verbal dispute in the 2000 block of Maravilla Circle. Authorities say 54-year-old Eduardo Lando-Matamoro of Hialeah escalated the situation by intentionally driving his vehicle into a group gathered in a driveway, striking three individuals.
In response, two witnesses drew firearms and shot at Lando-Matamoro, hitting him in the shoulder. Despite his injury, Lando-Matamoro attempted to flee the scene. One of the armed witnesses, identified in surveillance footage by a teal blue shirt, physically subdued the suspect and held him until deputies arrived.
Deputies quickly took Lando-Matamoro into custody. Two victims and the suspect were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Now, if anti-2A zealots were really interested in saveing lives, why aren’t they doing something about preventing incidents of car rammings which are becoming more and more popular worldwide as a way to kill people?
After all, more children are killed in car accidents (not to mention car rammings and other types of incidents) than they are by firearms.
It’s not even close.
So, knowing that, should we conclude that the anti-2A movement hasn’t done their research, and that’s why they advocate for the policies that they do?
That would make them incompetent as far as their recommendations go.
Or should be conclude that the issue for anti-2A zealots really isn’t saving lives but is banning guns, and if that’s the case, they’re being dishonest to the American people?
Now, I’d not suggesting banning cars.
What I am advocating for is complete and absolute implementation of the Second Amendment country-wide.
And I’d saying that anti-2A zealots should have the integrity to tell the truth both about firearms and about their motivations.
