NRA Reorganization: Will It Make Any Difference?

If you’ve been following the NRA over the last few years (or following news about firearms in New York State), then, you know that the NRA has had more than its share of trouble over the last few years, a fair amount of it being legal trouble initiated by anti-2A Attorney Generals in New York and elsewhere.

Add to that reports of internal conflicts among leadership in the organization, and many people have written off the NRA as not only not being strong enough with their defense of Americans’ 2A rights but as an organization too bogged down in their internal strife to be effective in making a meaningful difference in the world.

But a recent announcement from the organization may bring hope to those who hope to see the NRA return to a place of influence in favor of gun owners in America (hat tip to here for the lead). John Petrolino writes,

The National Rifle Association announced on October 30 that it is undergoing significant changes. NRA President Bachenberg talks about some of the changes and what members can expect.

The NRA reform or NRA 2.0 movement is in full swing. The 2024 election brought some so-called reform members to the Board of Directors, and in 2025, they swept the slate. With the upcoming 2026 election, it appears that NRA 2.0 will hold a supermajority after the votes are cast. The Association recognizes that it needs to adapt to survive, and significant changes are currently underway.

Petrolino continues:

The National Rifle Association’s announcement says that “the NRA is announcing organizational restructuring. These changes are aimed at maximizing member dollars, streamlining operations, and investing in critical programs that best serve NRA members and ensure the long-term strength of the organization.”

Will this reorganization make a difference? Time will tell.

Hopefully, though, we’ll see a phoenix rising from the ashes to take on anti-2A activists both in government and outside of government to restore our full and unrestricted 2A rights nationwide.
