Jeanine Pirro’s Threats To Arrest Gun Owners Catch BACKLASH

You may recall that former judge and current U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia (along with being a former Fox commentator) Jeanine Pirro made headlines recently by threatening to arrest legal gun owners who bring their firearms with them into the Washington, D.C. city limits (if you need a refresher, you can read more about that here).

This really shouldn’t surprise anyone, but Pirro’s comments received some high profile backlash, and while the backlash was expected by most everyone (this didn’t surprise her, did it?), some may be surprised on which big names came out to oppose Pirro’s comments.

Max Rego tells us about the first big name who criticized Pirro:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) pushed back Tuesday morning on comments from U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro threatening jail time for people who carry firearms in the nation’s capital.

“Second Amendment rights are not extinguished just because an American visits DC,” DeSantis wrote on social platform X. “American gun owners who conceal carry are among the most law-abiding citizens in the nation.

“They are friends of law enforcement; they should not be targeted by law enforcement,” he added.

DeSantis was right on point with those comments. No surprise there, though. DeSantis has been a consistently strong supporter of the Second Amendment.

The other big name to criticize Pirro is someone who had dropped off of the radar for the last few years, but apparently Pirro’s comments warranted coming back out of hiding. Ashleigh Fields writes,

Kyle Rittenhouse on Tuesday called for U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro to be fired after threatening to jail anyone who brings a gun into the district.

“Pirro should be fired. There is NO REASON a U.S. Attorney should take such a blatantly unconstitutional stance,” he wrote in a post on X.

Clearly, Pirro ruffled some feathers with her comments, but, frankly, the people pushing back on her comments are the ones in the right on this issue.

And a U.S. Attorney and former judge like Pirro, should know that and should know to be more careful what she says around this issue.
