The TWISTED Thinking Of Those On The Political Left

Gun violence is a terrible thing.

Contrary to what anti-2A people often say, pro-2A people want to reduce gun violence, too. The disagreement is over what the real causes of gun violence are and the solutions for gun violence.

On the pro-2A side, the belief is that gun violence comes from people with evil intent who think that violence is an acceptable way to get what they want or as a way to “make a point” (a terrorist act) or enact revenge.

The pro-2A side of things says that none of these things are acceptable ways to respond to anything (The political left, on the other hand, is much more likely to say that they believe that violence can be acceptable political “speech”).

Those on the left want to blame vague things such as “structural inequities” or “racism” without specifying exactly how either of those labels apply to any particular situation. (To be clear, racism does exist, but where and when it exists, you can point to a situation to be able to clearly show that the motivation for that particular action was racism.)

So, what is the left’s solution to these kinds of vague things? A recent article on a different subject gives us a hint. Glenn Gamboa writes,

“Health is inherently political,” said [former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Jerome] Adams. “When you talk about access to healthcare coverage, when you talk women’s health issues, particularly around the issue of abortion and contraception, when you talk about drug policy and whether you’re in favor of harm reduction, when you talk of firearm safety — all of these are inherently political issues.”

Wait, health is political? That kind of declaration is a handy excuse to get the government involved and meddling into the issue.

And you’ll notice that Adams included “firearm safety” into health. This was in relation to a new program put forth by the Clinton Foundation, by the way.

So, the left considers government intervention on guns to be the solution to gun violence based on vague and warped thinking.

How’s that worked so far?

Well, judging by gun violence numbers in areas with high gang population (which is where gun violence in America is overwhelmingly concentrated), not very good. To put it mildly.

But this is the thinking of those on the political left, which is where anti-2A activists overwhelmingly group politically. They don’t find definite identifiable causes, and they want the government to step in and fix a cause that they can’t identify.

It’s a situation that is ripe for abuse by whoever is running those programs, and we’ve seen that happen with many other government programs.

A real-world solution to gun violence, though, like allowing every adult in America to concealed carry a firearm (if for no other reason than for personal protection) which would, I would argue, reduce gun violence massively after the first two weeks of criminals learning that anyone could have a gun… Those on the left don’t want that.

They’ve got the whole thing twisted up in bad thinking and assumptions.
