Springfield Armory has gotten a lot of attention over the last few years for their innovative and popular pistols such as the Hellcat (see here for more on that) and their XD-S Mod 2 OSP 9mm optics ready single stack pistol (see here for more on that one).

In fact, their pistols have been so popular that you may not have realized that the company has a long history of manufacturing rifles, too.

Springfield Armory aims to change that situation, though, with an AR-15 designed to up your accurate shot game. Adam Scepaniak writes,

Well, today they pulled back the curtain on an exciting project that is another AR-15 rifle, but unlike anyone you have likely seen before. The Springfield Armory Saint Edge ATC – Accurized Tactical Chassis – is officially here!

Some of you might already be in shock of the appearance and departure from the normal look of an AR-15 [see screenshot image above]. What Springfield Armory sought out to achieve – and they have –  is to eliminate nearly all influence on the barrel for the most accurate AR-15 possible. Your older brother’s plastic handguard M4 has a barrel whip from the “Go!” Your more modern Springfield Saint Victor with a free-float M-LOK rail has significantly less influences pushing on the barrel, but some still exist. This radically different-in-appearance Saint Edge ATC and its monolithic lower look to remove almost all outside forces on your AR-15 for the most accuracy possible. Springfield Armory explains more about the Accurized Tactical Chassis they have chosen to deploy below:

The heart of the SAINT® Edge ATC system is the patented Accurized Tactical Chassis monolithic lower. Machined from 6061 T6 aluminum, the lower receiver is designed to remove any contact with the barrel, barrel nut and gas system. This completely free-floated system is the foundation of the SAINT Edge ATC’s unparalleled accuracy.

The Saint Edge ATC will be chambered in .223, and initial feedback about this firearm’s accuracy has been impressive. One reviewer said, “In short order, we’re ringing steel at 800 and change.” You can see that video below.

So, if you’re in the market to give the metaphorical finger to Beto O’Rourke and get your hands on an interesting AR-15, the Springfield Armory Saint Edge ATC may be one to consider.

  1. Why do guns remain so expensive to buy ? It’s because of everyone would be able to buy one otherwise. It is also a hobby of those who have deep pockets of cash on hand. For others, it is to have what is deemed necessary to defend themselves from a tyrannical government or a criminal of the neighborhood. And still others who use guns to hunt ( waylay ) wild game as a sport and for a supply of meat. Did I miss anything? Oh yes, a criminal uses guns to maim or kill people but these persons we want to eliminate by judicial procedure.
