What Americans Can Learn From European Country With Highest Rate Of GUN VIOLENCE

Contrary to what you may have heard, rates of gun violence in Europe are soaring in a number of places. They are increasing at a rate that, frankly, can probably only be appreciated by a mayor of a major U.S. city like Chicago or Baltimore (who, based on their policies and outcomes, seem to actually want higher rates of gun violence).

Now, you may be wondering why Americans should even care about what is going on in other countries, and, in general, I wouldn’t say that you shouldn’t care beyond your own personal interest in different cultures.

One of the smartest things that I’ve ever heard, though, was when someone said that the smartest way to learn something is to learn from other people’s mistakes, so that you don’t have to make them, too.

That makes sense to me, and that is, essentially, what you’re doing when you take good firearms training: you’re learning from other people’s experience so that you, ideally, won’t have to experience mistakes or failures when your life or the life of a loved one is on the line.

And with that in mind, it can make a lot of sense to pay attention to what is happening in other countries when they have a dramatic change in the levels of both gun violence and overall levels of violence there. Hopefully, we can get an idea of what is causing that problem there in order to prevent that from happening here.

So, what can we learn from the situation in Sweden? Guy Birchall writes,

The Scandinavian nation has become a hotspot for gang violence, often involving minors, over the past decade and now suffers the highest rate of gun violence per capita in the European Union.

Police statistics show that there were at least 363 shootings in 2023, with 53 being fatal, and a spike in the number of bombings to 149 from 90.

Sweden has a population of just under 10.5 million people.

Birchall continues:

Authorities in Sweden have estimated that 62,000 people in the country are linked to criminal gangs.

The gangs were found to frequently recruit members from immigrant neighborhoods, with most of the violence occurring in Sweden’s three largest cities: Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmo.

Now, two points to made about this situation in Sweden that are worth paying attention to.

First, this isn’t to suggest that most immigrants are looking to join gangs or to commit violent crimes. The criminal portion of a group of people is always a small minority portion of that group, but it doesn’t take too many people to cause huge problems. And if we don’t know who is entering the country, then, how do we know which ones are dangerous and which ones aren’t?

Second, these violent hotspots in Sweden, like in the U.S., are concentrated in large cities. We can speculate as to why that is, but what is immediately clear is that larger cities (or, at least, parts of those cities) are more dangerous to live in than in suburban or rural areas. So, if you live in a large city (maybe especially Chicago, Baltimore, New York City, and San Francisco), you may want to find a way to move out of the city to protect yourself and your family.

Regardless of whether illegal immigration to the U.S. is brought under control or not and whether you live in a large city or not, my last piece of advice applies: train and become proficient with your firearm, and carry daily. The life that you save may be your own.

  1. What makes you think the government is not in on it? Like here in America The CIA sold drugs in America to fund the contra wars! Who is dumb enough to think they ever stopped? It is government that is attempting to end drugs as a crime! Not the people. During the Eric Holder trial the Mexican drug unit testified the largest drug cartel was owned by the CIA! What a surprise! All the captured drugs are taken to a secret place to be destroyed. Or are they just put back on the streets as they are already here? Why is it only Democrat government want more legal drugs on our streets dumbing down America. WHY???? Who’s side are they on??? Certainly not the American People!
