MIXED FEELINGS: Outcome Of Alec Baldwin’s Shooting Trial

For today’s story, I will admit to having mixed feelings. I suspect that you will feel the same way, too.

Now, I’m not proud of my mixed feelings because, frankly, those mixed feelings are partly due to how much I dislike the person at the center of today’s story, Alec Baldwin. He’s been a rampant loudmouth and anti-2A activist (even though he continues to produce movies that don’t show guns in a bad light which is pretty hypocritical, don’t you think?). He’s arrogant and obnoxious, and he’s been downright mean to people that disagree with his politics.

Not the kind of person that you want to spend any time around, I would think.

On the flip side, I hate gun laws, in general. Maybe his recent trials haven’t been specifically about gun laws, but too many legal gun owners have had to go through the same thing that he’s gone through because they had to protect their families. So, in that light, I have some sympathy for what he’s been going through. But not much (see the earlier point).

Jessamyn Dodd gives us the details:

A New Mexico judge has dismissed the involuntary manslaughter case against actor Alec Baldwin with prejudice, meaning it cannot be brought back to court.

This decision is final and prevents the prosecution from pursuing the same charges against Mr. Baldwin again. The dismissal on Friday was due to the prosecution’s failure to provide the defense with crucial evidence, which violated Mr. Baldwin’s right to a fair trial, the judge said.

Mr. Baldwin was on trial for the accidental shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of his Western film, “Rust.”

So, yes, Baldwin is off the hook for the death on the set of his movie, Rust.

Good for him.

Now, if he can get his head out of his backside and stop pushing to steal the gun rights of innocent Americans, that might help to lessen my disgust with him.

  1. Not following safety RULES should be against the law, those rules are for every ones safety …
But like all anti-2nd. amendment people it’s RULES FOR YOU BUT NOT FOR ME …

  2. Too bad the same doesn’t happen to innocent little babies who have done NOTHING at all wrong yet still get sentenced to a brutal, horrible, painful and satanic death with no lawyers or courts to speak for them or get them off the murder hook.

    • YES mellie, I agree with you 100 % !!! It is not only disgusting how people in this country treat the UNBORN as trash ! 😰 Another reason to vote TRUMP !!! It’s on his agenda to put an end to this bull shit !!!

  3. The alleged “evidence” withheld by the prosecutor was related to the source of the ammunition used on set. That was not material or relevant to Baldwin’s defense, as the source of the live bullet was not part of the charge against him, and Gutierrez was already convicted. An analogy is the receipt for gasoline purchased before a DUI crash. How would that be related to any defense claim?

  4. It had been noted in reports just after the incident that dispute the armours efforts , Baldwin and cast were using said prop arms for target practice . Live ammunition was on set and not properly segregated or secured from the blank ammunition and various cast and crew were often in and out of the Armours area . Something Baldwin made no efforts to halt dispute Gutierrez efforts to prevent them . Someone returning with unused live ammo could easily placed the unused ammunition in the wrong box . Baldwin also did not attend the firearms safety classes it’s been reported , I guess he was to important to have to attend such a mundane class . You know ,I’m s star , I’m the producer . While Ms Gutierrez has some guilt , Baldwin has as much if not more and should have received some punishment in terms of incarceration . At the very least Alec Baldwin should have been told to never be involved with any sort of film involving the use of handling of firearms even if it be a water pistol .

  5. If I recall correctly, the gun was single-action. He insists he didn’t pull the trigger. The questionable FBI insists the trigger had to be pulled for the gun to fire. We are shooters and should know the answer. Both he and the FBI are correct. He cocking the damned thing, and his thumb SLIPPED!! This is what can happen when schmuck lawyers are involved. Any comments? It reminds me of the three young black New Jersey kids who were charged with attempted murder for trying to run over two dumbassed state cops. The cops were standing behind a vehicle with a running engine. The kids were instructed to turn the car off and exit. What do you do when you turn a vehicle off? You put it in “park,” which momentarily triggers the BACKUP lights. That was them trying to run over the cops. The defense attorney was a jackass, and the judge was stupid. The cops were dumbassed enough that they should have been run over for standing directly behind a running vehicle.

  6. never liked this clown i have another name for him won’t say it because it would be ugly. my take on this clown

  7. My stepfather was a WW II Marine. When he began teaching me gun safety and how to shoot , He had 2 rules . 1. Do not point a weapon at anyone unless you intend to kill them. 2. Triggers do not pull themselves . There is no excuse to justify it, I still believe this to be true today. The year was 1958.
My personal feeling is that Alec Baldwin deliberately killed her. For what reason, I do not know.

  8. I do not like Baldwin for the same reasons others have mentioned, but in this case I agree with the court. Baldwin was not playing with a gun when he shot the woman, he was rehearsing a script for the cameras. Everything he did was scripted, nothing was random. He was handed the gun by the armorer, whose job it was to know the difference between live rounds and blanks. And what the h-blazes were live rounds doing on a movie set in the first place? Lots of people don’t like Baldwin, it wouldn’t surprise me if someone set him up here.
