New Bolt Action Rifle Is Very Unusual

Bolt action rifles are nothing new in the gun world. In fact, it can be easy to think of them as the “old reliable” rifle to go back to when you need something that just gets the job done for distance shooting.

But just because something is the “old reliable,” that doesn’t mean that there can’t be different and interesting things about it.

For example, most people familiar with guns think of bolt action rifles as guns using bullets with gunpowder and casings. That isn’t always the case, though.

Crossman recently introduced their Icon PCP bolt action air rifle, and if you remember air rifles from when you were a kid, besides being bolt action, this has some other surprises for you. A writer going by Luke C gives us details:

Crosman is probably most well known for its fun backyard plinking air rifles and BB guns but now they have released the first airgun specifically designed for newer PCP hunters. The new Crosman Icon PCP bolt-action air rifle is capable of delivering velocities of up to 1,000 fps and will come in .22 and .177 caliber offerings. This new platform is intended to be both simple and affordable so that those curious or new to PCP air rifle shooting can start exploring the benefits of PCP air gun hunting.

Luke C continues:

The Crossman Icon features a synthetic stock, rifled steel barrel, a 1/2×20 UNF threaded muzzle for the attachment of a dedicated air gun suppressor (a non-NFA item), a 200 psi pressure gauge with up to 30 “effective” shots per fill, fiber optic front sight, fully adjustable rear sight, and finally a 10-shot auto-indexing magazine.

Think about that: an air rifle that can shoot .22 caliber ammunition and can deliver shots at 1,000 feet per second. These aren’t the air rifles that I had access to when I was a kid.

So, if you’re looking for something a little different or maybe something more appropriate for a younger shooter (or if you’re looking to hunt in a state with ridiculous firearm restrictions), with an MSRP under $300, the Crossman Icon PCP may be a rifle to consider.

I might be a good idea for the author to quote the MRSP.
