Will AI Be The End Of The 2nd Amendment?

When I was growing up, talk of artificial intelligence (AI) in computers was limited to science fiction novels and movies. Things like The Terminator (that AI lifted a lot of weights) or 2001: A Space Odyssey (“I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.”). It was scary stuff to a young kid (at the time), but it didn’t feel real. Because it wasn’t.

But technology has changed, now, and AI technology has developed rapidly to the point that some things that people see online both look and sound real, like real things and real people, even when they aren’t (I can let you know that I’m not an AI. But an AI would say that, wouldn’t it?).

And you may ask why that matters to us when it comes to our Second Amendment rights. It’s a great question. And the answer is that AI, such as ChatGPT, which can look and act (at least, online) like a real person, has a distinctly leftist political leaning. Candace Hathaway writes,

A new report revealed that the large language model ChatGPT has a “significant and systematic political bias” toward the left, the New York Post reported.

Researchers at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, United Kingdom, found that the popular artificial intelligence-powered system is exhibiting a bias toward particular political leanings.

The report, “More human than human: measuring ChatGPT political bias,” found that, despite the company ensuring the system is impartial, its responses to certain political questions leaned in favor of the Democratic Party in the United States, Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the Labour Party in the United Kingdom.

Now, someone who isn’t familiar with political leanings may say, “So what?”

The answer to that is this: Those on the political left don’t want anyone else, especially your or me, to have guns. So, the fake news that the mainstream media has been spouting about blaming gun violence on guns (instead of criminals and those on the political left, which is much more the case) could become amplified even more and rational voices online could be censored even worse under AI’s influence than just Twitter and Facebook “fact checkers.”

And if people out there aren’t able to hear a different viewpoint, then, it’s much less likely that they’ll have the opportunity to understand the value and importance of the Second Amendment which could lead to it disappearing.

We can’t let that happen, and, so, we must continue to work to educate people, maybe even more so in person than online, to avoid AI’s and Big Tech’s censorship of us.
