There’s an old quip that goes, “If they didn’t have double standards, they wouldn’t have any standards at all.”
That quip certainly seems to apply to anti-2A activists these days (maybe it always did).
Those activists keep saying that they want gun control and (when they’re being honest) that they want to ban guns, and the reason that they usually give is that they want to decrease violence in society and save lives.
That would seem to be an altruistic motive, wouldn’t it? After all, saving lives is a noble and good thing.
The problem with that sentiment is that, too often, anti-2A activists don’t actually want to ban all guns.
They just want to take your guns.
How can I make such a “biased” assertion?
Fair question, and in answer, I have a real-world example for you.
Now, remember, the people who are for gun control are people who politically opposed Donald Trump and anyone who is currently associated with Trump. Except that opposition goes beyond just opposing them politically. It extends to physical violence and vandalism, and they aren’t above violating their own stated “principles” to commit that violence. A report from Blaze News notes,
A man wearing all black torched several Tesla vehicles with Molotov cocktails and then shot at them with a gun, according to Nevada police.
Wait, a man dressed like an Antifa activist had a gun and used it to vandalize Teslas even though Antifa typically campaigns for gun control?
Yes, that’s right.
And this situation points out a truth that isn’t talked about enough: Anti-2A zealots don’t want to ban all guns. They want to ban your guns because you disagree with their politics.
You’ll also notice that it is exactly those same people who want to ban your guns who commit violence against people whose politics they disagree with and who destroy private property.
What can we infer from that?
We can infer that gun control isn’t about saving lives. It is about eliminating the ability of people to resist the pushing of leftist political policies.
This is exactly why the Second Amendment was put into place: to protect the right of the people to resist tyranny. And leftist political policies (if you know your history) always leads to tyranny.
