SCOTUS Falls Down On The Job

The current Supreme Court of the United States has made a number of excellent rulings over the last few years when it comes to gun rights, and I applaud them on each of those decisions.

Having said that, I can’t say that I think that the court has been correct on every ruling that they’ve made. Not by a long shot.

In fact, in addition to making some excellent decisions, they’ve made some terrible decisions (in my opinion). And it’s a recent terrible decision that we’re going to talk about today. Matthew Vadum writes,

The U.S. Supreme Court on April 7 denied a challenge to a restrictive New York state gun law that was passed to counter the court’s landmark gun ruling in 2022.

The court’s decision not to hear Antonyuk v. James came in an unsigned order. No justices dissented. The court did not explain its order.

The Supreme Court ruling leaves intact a U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit decision from October 2024 that struck down some provisions in the state law but upheld others.

Now, I am a Second Amendment absolutist. I think that every legal adult show have absolutely no prohibitions on owning guns.

I also think that criminals and those who have a tendency to use violence to get their way would change their minds about that pretty quickly as legal gun owners become more common and widespread and as criminals and would-be criminals can no longer feel assured that they can get away with gun violence.

Thus, any restrictions on gun rights is, in reality, an empowering of both criminals and of would-be petty tyrants in government who think that they can use their guns (or the government’s guns) to get their way without any repercussions.

Criminals and would-be tyrants knowing that literally anyone has the option to be able to protect themselves with a firearm is a game changer is protecting people and protecting freedom, and that’s why the Second Amendment was put into place in the first place.

By allowing any parts of the New York State gun control law to stand, SCOTUS has let us down and hasn’t done their job, which, in part, is to uphold the Constitution. This ruling needs to be reviewed and corrected, and all gun control should be thrown out across the nation.

  1. now the SCOUS should take note on what was passed in Colorado yesterday and immediately void the “Gov” Polis’ signing in secret a VERUY restrictive law that will cost the public when buying a new gun or magazines for their use on guns they already own !

  2. All gun control is an an infringement on our national rights to self defense by any means necessary. The constitution didn’t grant us the right to,it was meant to protect our natural rights from foreign invasion and our own government going rouge. Tyrants always disarm the people before imposing their total tyranny on the formerly free people. Therefore all gun control must be abolished.

  3. All gun control laws are an infringement on a person’s natural rights to self defense by any means necessary. Tyrants always disarm the people before imposing their total tyranny on their people. Therefore all gun control laws are an abomination needing to be totally erased from the law books. Nothing less is going to be acceptable.
