Today, we’re going to talk about mistakes. Specifically, gun safety mistakes.
Now, I’m sure that you don’t ever make any of these mistakes, and I wouldn’t expect you to admit that you’ve ever done so, whether out of ignorance or out of negligence (at least not in the comment section below), but many people, both new shooters and those who have gotten careless have made the mistakes that we’re going to talk about today.
To go over all of this, we have Caleb about Patriot Training Center in today’s video, which you can watch below.
Now, be honest, have you made any (or all) of the mistakes that Caleb talked about in the video?
I can honestly say that I haven’t ever intentionally made any of those mistakes. When I was first learning about firearms, though, it’s possible that I may have made one of more of them. Having humility about it is good so that we can correct our mistakes when we make them.
But it’s even more important to know about these mistakes so that we don’t make them.
And the reason for that should be obvious: we don’t want to unintentionally injure or kill anyone or to unintentionally destroy anything.
Hopefully, being legal gun owners, we’re all on the same page about these things.
And to repeat the points that Caleb made in the video (because repetition will, hopefully, ingrain good safety habits into our nervous system), we need to:
- always practice muzzle discipline (not pointing a firearm at anything that we don’t intend to shoot),
- always practice trigger finger discipline (keep your finger off of the trigger until you’re ready to fire the gun),
- practice good, safe carry methods (use a holster that secures the firearm to your body and covers the trigger guard, and nothing other than the gun and holster if carrying a gun in the pocket),
- train for defensive gun use, including speed from the draw to on target and accuracy.
Don’t make those mistakes, and you can check out the official 3-Second MINIMUM Drill Standard that Caleb mentioned in the video here for FREE: https://3SecondMinimumDrill.com ← includes free video/written training, printable target, and email support at no cost)
