Try Not to Fall Out of Your Seat When You See This Huge Win for Pro-Gun Tennessee

Seeing gun control regulations move forward in states across the country can be extremely disheartening.

When you see one unconstitutional measure after another simply breeze through legislative bodies that are supposed to uphold the Constitution, it can almost make you give up hope.

Thankfully though, it seems that for every anti-gun state in the union, there’s a pro-gun state that’s stepping up to the plate to balance it out.

Case in point, take a look at Tennessee’s latest pro-gun bill that takes an amazing step toward maintaining gun rights for the state’s citizens.

The bill was passed just days ago, and it does something that no other state has done before.

It prevents any international gun restrictions from ever infringing on Tennesseans’ Second Amendment rights. That means that no matter what happens in the rest of the world, gun owners in Tennessee will stay armed and protected.

Activist Post has more:

On Thursday, the Tennessee senate gave final approval to a bill that sets the foundation to stop enforcement of gun control imposed by international law or treaty.

House Bill 2389 would prohibit law enforcement officers from enforcing provisions of international law and treaties that limit gun rights as specified in the state’s constitution.

The bill reads:

On or after July 1, 2016, no personnel or property of this state, or any political subdivision of this state, shall be allocated to the implementation, regulation, or enforcement of any international law or treaty regulating the ownership, use, or possession of firearms, ammunition, or firearm accessories, if the use of personnel or property would result in the violation of another Tennessee statute, Tennessee common law, or the Constitution of Tennessee.

“This bill prohibits any interference of [the right to keep and bear arms] by international treaty,” said Tennessee Rep. John Windle, who introduced the bill in January.

HB2389 now moves on to Governor Bill Haslam’s desk. He must sign or veto the bill within 10 days of transmittal, or it becomes law without his signature.

If this bill passes, Tennessee will be shielded from the pesky, anti-second amendment UN Arms Trade Treaty which has been described by Gun Owners of America as part of a plan “to bring back the framework for a global gun control regime.”

The ATT was signed by Secretary of State John Kerry on September 25, 2013 but was never ratified by the US Senate.

The NRA blasted the Obama Administration for signing the treaty, saying “This treaty threatens individual firearm ownership with an invasive registration scheme [and is full of regulations and requirements that are] blatant attacks on the constitutional rights of every law-abiding American.”

Recently, Oxfam International renewed its push for the UN Arms Trade Treaty.

Want to move to Tennessee yet? We all wish our own states would step up and do something as courageous as this.

    • I agree with Greyguy. Why didn’t they just grab each other by the balls and ban ALL anti-2nd/A gun laws to be enforced in their State? Starting with the 1968 Gun Control Act, the Brady Bill, the 1934NFA, and etc.?

  1. I live in Colorado and this needs to happen in this state. We have a very liberal House, a Republican Senate and a wuss of a Democrat Governor. I fear it will not happen, but can’t these dummies see if they limit or take away or Second Amendment and pass the Small Arms Treaty, that will give the enemies of our country an open invitation to move in and take over. I think I will become a crook because you know crooks are not going to give up their weapons or tell anyone they have a weapon.

  2. Similar to greyguy, a law that says you must obey the Constitution? If “they” were going to obey the Constitution, they would, instead of “the words don’t mean what it clearly says, they mean what WE want it to mean.”

    • No, the 2nd Amendment affirms your God given right. It’s an important difference. If men gave you the right, men could take it away.

  3. The Constitution is the law of the land in America! People can’t take away what God has given! There is a time for everything under the heavens, when they come for my guns, it will then be a time to kill, and a time to die! Be a man, stand firm for you’re beliefs! ISSIS does! Obama does! Israel does! Robert Waddell does! You live you’re life, nobody can live it for you! You will meet you’re maker, alone!

  4. WHAT’S NEXT?: …… SCREWDRIVERS, KITCHEN KNIVES, CARS, BASEBALL BATS, LADDERS, PARACHUTES, AIRPLANES, CALORIES, FAST FOODS, TOY GUNS, PLAYGROUNDS, BALL FIELDS, GLASS WINDOWS….ETC., ETC. ETC, AD INFINITUM.

WHY WASTE TIME? JUST OUTLAW ALL FORMS OF SELF-DEFENSE THAT COULD KILL AN ATTACKER. BEST OF ALL(!), JUST OUTLAW THE U.S. CONSTITUTION ALTOGETHER AND PUT THE THUGS IN CHARGE. OH! …ALREADY DONE??

THIS JUDGE SHOULD BE LAUGHED OFF THE BENCH.

    • Noel, one of the officers I spoke with in LA told me this. My question was; is a man, or woman, really safe in their castle. Would I be better off using my Roger Maris 33 oz’r or my .22 ?

I was told that I would be better off running outside and screaming “fire !” Then, I think because she knows me, she laughed and said, a .22, George, …. buy a gun !

    • What’s next ? Who knows ! Bloomberg already tried to outlaw Big Gulps. And let’s not forget that it is his Bolshevik money that is financing a lot of this gun-grab idiocy. That man should be tried for treason. When he goes out of his ivory tower he is surrounded by 10 to 12 bodyguards, all carrying heat. No doubt he has heat tucked under his jacket too. But he wants everyone else disarmed. What does that tell you about that crook. Thank god no one lives forever, and his day to croak gets closer and closer with every passing moment.

    • In CA the criminals have guns, Drug lords have taken over towns, many business gunfree. One big mess!

  5. Tennessee’s new law maybe just salid dressing, I hope not. I live in CA where the gun/ammo laws change with every election and the changes are NOT good for gun owners.

I have talked to law enforcement officers in six southern CA counties. PD, CHP, and SO, and they all said the same things about firearm owners. Which amounted to if your not a felon and you are law abiding “I don’t care!” I wish Gov. Brown and Kamala Harris could read between the lines.

    • George, I was born and raised in Kalifornia. When I retired, my family and I moved out of the PRK within a month to a very gun friendly state. I’ve never been sorry. Vote with your feet and leave that communist hell hole.

      • Marty: I lived in California for most of my life, my father, a career Army man being stationed in Fort Ord. My origins from birth were in Southwestern Wyoming. I graduated from high school in California, got married eventually, and raised my kids there. California was a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I left California in ’99 to Cheyenne,WY to care for my now elderly parents who both passed away that same year. After losing my arm in a brutal auto accident in 2003, I made the decision to leave Cheyenne and go back West as the winters were too cold and hard to bear anymore. I dropped anchor in Las Vegas with no desire to return to California to it’s now more socialist political climate. I’ve never regretted it. My kids are still there but as they approach their respective retirement age they’ll pull out just like I and Momma did. California sucks as it took Hollywood plus the waterfront coastal voters to ruin it by turning everything over to liberal Dummycrats to be the law makers. I can only hope for the best for my kids and wished I had plenty of bucks to bring them out of bondage from a Socialist Republic with it’s outrageous taxes, high cost of living, and a rerun Governor who does nothing but sign more anti-gun laws. My kids all make good living but it costs every dime they earn to survive the burdensome living costs and confiscatory income tax.

  6. I live in Tennessee and ever other state should stand up and follow our example. Because if not, then you and your state soon could be the unarmed prisoners in some camp overseen by this so called government. Governments can, and if we all stick together, be overthrown. Tyranny is an evil, evil thing but can be dealt with by the wonderful People of this great Country. Just remember…”We The People of the United States…” Just like our Fore Fathers did in their time. Now it’s our time to make a stand. United We Stand, Devided We Fall!!!! God bless each and every one of us.

  7. Marty, your right, of course. I too am a native Californian. I really do love the place but the older I get the more reason’s I find to leave. Your advice is well taken.

  8. What about are own federal government , The 2nd. Amendment does not say what arms we can own but it does say SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED .

  9. ‘b.h.0bama/soetoro/sobarkah/ybayd/davis/WHOEVER’ SIGNED A PIECE OF PAPER, called a treaty, which CONGRESS did not accept and pass IS NOT WORTH THE INK USED to write it. America is not held accountable to ANY papers signed or published by foreign nations, organizations or groups.

  10. Here is my feeling about owing a firearm. The Second Amendment guarantees us the right to own firearms. Until they change the Constitution that right stands. I have not seen anything in the Second Amendment that puts restrictions on any part of owing a firearm. The original reason for this amendment was so that the citizenry could keep the government in check. And remember the smoothbore flintlock musket was the assault gun of the day. Today it is the M 16. To all the gun haters show me where it restricts what type of weapon I cannot own according to the Second Amendment. And by the way stock up on AP ammo if you can’t consistently hold a 5 inch group at the extreme range of your weapon.

  11. I am a Tennessee resident and only hope that our Gov. just lets the bill ( HB2389 ) pass by doing nothing on April 1st.

  12. Infringe- actively break the terms of(a Law, agreement, etc.)
Act as so to limit or undermine(something); encroach on
That’s the definition. Pretty self explanatory. Need I say more?
