Scary Gun Incident Near School Grounds Caught On Camera, Ruled Self-Defense

No sane person wants to be caught in a gun incident, whether an actual shooting or an almost shooting. We’re glad to have firearms in case we need them, but that doesn’t mean that we want to use them against another person (no matter what politically left politicians and the mainstream media keep saying).

If you find yourself in a gun incident, though, do you want that incident to be captured on camera, or would you rather it not be on video?

I suspect that many people have a knee jerk response to that: “Of course I want it caught on video! That would show police immediately that I’m not to blame!”

And that very well may be the case.

But if the video is a social media feed showing video just outside of a school, do you actually want that caught on camera, freaking out parents of children in that school?

The public backlash of something like that could be pretty overwhelming if it were to happen to you. Just like it happened to a parent in Pennsylvania. Luke McCoy writes,

Authorities have concluded their investigation into a confrontation between two parents outside E.F. Smith School in York, determining that one of the women involved was legally justified in displaying a firearm during the altercation.

The incident, which unfolded in front of the school and was partially captured on a widely viewed live social media video, drew community concern over allegations of a firearm being brandished on school grounds. In response to public outcry and the seriousness of the situation, York City Police Commissioner Michael Muldrow ordered a reassessment of the case and directed investigators to present their findings to the York County District Attorney’s Office for further review.

The parent with the firearm wasn’t arrested, and the other parent was arrested and charged.

Still, that’s a pretty stressful situation to find yourself in, caught on camera flashing a gun for the entire world to see.

Yet another example of why, as a legal gun owner, you would be wise to minimize conflicts as much as possible.
