Guns And Politics: Can You Keep Them Apart?

Guns and politics. In the minds of many people, these two subjects naturally go together. Then, again, many people want to make everything political. Literally everything.

What if you’re not one of those people, though, who want to insert politics into every subject? What if you want to just live your life, having your firearms, without politics even having to come into play? Is there a way to do that?

A YouTuber going by Hickock45 asked exactly that question, and it’s a great question to ask, especially in this Presidential election year. Can you keep guns and politics apart?

You can watch Hickock45’s thoughts on that subject below.

Sadly, I think that Hickock45 is right. If you own (or plan to own) a firearm, you are opting to be involved in politics. There is no way around that.

Why? Simply because we live in a world in which some people think that it’s their right, even their responsibility, to meddle in your personal life with the force of government behind them (and, if you think about it, that means with the threat of force, which is how government enforces everything).

So, you will be affected by the efforts of ignorant busybodies and would-be dictators who want to disarm you because they think that they know what is for your best good regardless of whether you agree with them or not.

It’s pretty arrogant on their part, if you think about it.

But because they insist on getting in the middle of your private life, even if you’ve never committed a crime (which is the case for the vast majority of gun owners in America), you have to be involved in politics. There is no way around it if you hope to keep your rights.

Ironically, it’s those same people pushing to steal your gun rights that often complain that you’re (somehow) imposing on them just because you disagree with their worldview (or, at the very least, because you choose to own a gun that you never have and never will have to fire at anyone).

The hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness on that side of the political spectrum is just mind boggling.

  1. Every living thing, plant or animal, is infused with the instinct of self-preservation, which translates to self-defense, and the means to do so. If this were not the case, those living beings would have regressed to extinction.

  2. the point is for the gov’t. to separate YOU from the weapon, freedom, self sufficiency or any social interaction (jail)(the right to assemble).
