It’s an interesting breed of people who consistently fight to take away your 2A rights. While there may be some exceptions, overwhelmingly the people who want to ban gun rights, confiscate firearms, and regulate them to the point that you can’t legally own or use them are people who have never experienced criminal violence first hand.
Sure, they may know someone that has, but they typically haven’t.
They’re the equivalent of the person who doesn’t have kids giving parenting advice to new parents. The advice is worthless, and the people giving it are arrogant in their ignorance.
On the flip side, though, are people who have first-hand knowledge of criminal violence. Those people typically know and understand the value of firearms. And we have a perfect example of exactly that situation in another country. Autumn Spredemann writes,
Argentine President Javier Milei’s decision to reduce the age of legal gun ownership to 18 from 21 has garnered support from the public. Many city residents say greater civilian access to firearms comes at the right time for those living in crime-stricken streets and may signal a shift in the country’s attitude toward gun ownership.
Since 2007, Argentina has focused on voluntary civilian disarmament, which many Argentinians say has helped criminals more than anyone else.
Fabián Calle, a member of former President Mauricio Macri’s administration, told The Epoch Times that Argentinians weren’t shocked when Milei lowered the age for legal firearms ownership. He said many people in Buenos Aires already carry guns because of high rates of violent crime.
Why are people there celebrating lowering the legal age of firearms ownership? Because that means more legal adults will be available to protect both themselves and their families from criminals who, of course, don’t obey gun laws anyway.
It’s simple and straightforward logic if you understand the psychology of bullies and predators. The way that you decrease violent crime is by making the criminals more afraid than the people.
And criminals should always be more afraid than those who are law-abiding. Always.
Abolish the ATF. Their current crop of bossy semi-NAZIs could then seek new jobs as trade show unarmed guards to make the living which they actually are much more suited for.
I don’t need to suffer from abuse in life to know I don’t wish to participate.
