Popularity contests are always… well… popular. People watch gossip shows about popular actors and music stars. People thrive on keeping up with the perceived social hierarchy of who is most popular and who isn’t.
Another perfect example of this is, for many people, elections. How else can we explain how Bill Clinton and Barack “Yes, We Can” and “Change We Can Believe In” Obama were elected? What do those slogans even mean, anyway?
Still, an argument can be made that popularity can actually mean something other than keeping up with gossip or with how we fit into the social order of society. For example, in the marketplace, popularity of a product or service can indicate how well that it actually does what people want it to do.
Of course, other factors like marketing come into play here, too, but in the firearms marketplace, it may be less likely than other parts of the marketplace to allow a bad product to become one of the top ten best sellers in the industry.
So, with that in mind, it may be worth reviewing what guns are selling best in the U.S. right now. Fortunately, Ranger Duke put together that list for us. Here are the firearms that Duke says are the most popular guns in America currently:
- Sig Sauer P365
- Ruger 10/22
- Sig Sauer P320
- Ruger American Rifle
- Glock 43
- CZ 75
- Marlin Model 1895
- Browning X-Bolt
- Ruger Mark IV
Now, you may have been expecting a top ten list, so was I. But there were only nine on Duke’s list.
Still, it really isn’t a surprise that the list had a number of popular daily carry pistols and several plinking and hunting rifles on it. Hunting and concealed carry (protection) are the most popular reasons that people buy firearms, followed by fun shooting like plinking and target shooting.
And it’s hard to argue with this particular list in terms of quality choices. All are from well respected manufacturers and have solid, well earned reputations.
So, if you’re in the market for a new gun, this list could be a good place to start your search.
