Scary news came out recently in a survey about gun ownership in America.
I say it’s scary news because, for some people, it really is scary news. After all, the results of that survey show that what those people have been telling us all along…
Is an absolute lie.
Now, you and I already knew this. We already knew that anti-2A organizations and politicians were trying to propagandize us into giving up our guns.
But it’s always good to see the true facts about those statements and to see statistics in accurate context.
And what do those statistics say?
The first thing worth mentioning is that 13.2% of Americans are carrying everyday or most everyday, and that another 16.6% carry sometimes or rarely.
Would I like those numbers to be higher? Yes, but I’ll accept that nearly one third of Americans carry a firearm at least occasionally.
Now, I just want criminals to realize that every third person that they meet could be armed so that those criminals find the motivation to find other occupations.
Those carry numbers, in case you’re interested, are a 10% increase over a few years ago.
And the result of that?
Murder rates just posted their biggest single year drop on record.
It’s almost as if more guns equal less murder.
Imagine that.
And, of course, I’m the first to say that correlation does not equal causation. In this case, though, I would argue that correlation is a definite indication of partial or complete causation.
Put bluntly: I argue that more legal gun owners carrying firearms reduces crime, especially murder.
