Children. They may be the most important “thing” in the world. After all, they are our future, of our society, of our world. Without children, there will be no human race to go on, so, it makes absolute sense that stories about terrible things happening to children both grab our attention and horrify us.

And make no mistake, today’s story isn’t any kind of feel-good story. It’s all bad.

But there is an important lesson that people need to learn that this story highlights in stark, ugly detail. Joseph Mackinnon gives us the details:

A 10-year-old boy in the Foothill Farms area of Sacramento County was arrested over the weekend and charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Keith Frierson, also 10.

Mackinnon continues:

On the basis of witness interviews and evidence found at the scene, detectives deduced that Davis’ 10-year-old son went to his father’s car to get the felon a pack of cigarettes. The SCSO [Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office] indicated the suspect “took a gun from inside the vehicle and bragged that his father had a gun.”

Officials confirmed that Davis is legally prohibited from possessing or owning a firearm. The likely murder weapon recovered at the scene was reported stolen in 2017.

After bragging about having his father’s verboten gun, the suspect allegedly shot the victim then fled. His father is suspected of trying to dispose of the gun in a nearby trashcan where it was later found by detectives.

Now, in case you didn’t catch it, this happened in California, home to some of the strictest gun control laws in the country. On top of that, the gun that was used was a felon’s gun. That means that they weren’t legally allowed to have a gun.

If gun control can prevent anything, this is exactly what it should have been able to prevent. According to the thinking of those who push gun control, Davis shouldn’t have been able to get his hands on a gun.

But he did. And a child is dead.

Gun control didn’t prevent Davis from getting a gun. Because gun control doesn’t prevent anyone but the law-abiding from getting guns. And the law-abiding, the ones that would use a firearm against another person only when they had to in order to prevent a murder or grievous physical harm, are exactly who we want to have guns. Because they’ll keep everyone else safer.

This terrible story out of California just shows how gun control is utterly ineffective in preventing gun violence, and anti-2A zealots needs to wake up and stop pretending that it makes any positive difference at all.

  1. All of these GUN CONTROL MEASURES and none of them have even come close to enforcing the laws already there to keep guns out of the hands of BAD PEOPLE …

  2. How about enforcing ALL the laws?
You know, like the ones against robbing, stealing, raping, and …
    MURDERING.

Eliminate the stupid laws, enforce the good ones, arrest the bad guys, and leave the good guys alone.

  3. Let’s try enforcing the laws we have before we try passing any new ones? I recall a state on the East Coast did this – Project Exile, it was called. Don’t plea away gun offenses, you do the full time for them, and you do them CONSECUTIVELY, not concurrently. You get five years for a gun offense, you’re doing the nickel for the gun crime IN ADDITION TO whatever you get for everything else.

Gosh wollickers – crime actually DROPPED in response!

Unfortunately, they were made to stop by the huggy-feely lunatic Left. Why? “Black and brown people are disproportionately represented in incarceree populations.” Well, Hell – they’re also disproportionately represented in the population portion of society that commits crimes, so what’s your point?

Our side finally caved, and we ended up deactivating a programme that was /working/ just because the other side would only see half of reality…
