Anti-2A people like to pretend that gun control works, that law enforcement can somehow magically be everywhere that armed intervention needs to be in order to prevent more widespread violence.
But that’s just not how the world works.
Law Enforcement can’t be everywhere to be able to enforce gun laws. That’s true here in the U.S. and in other countries, too.
Take, for example, a big gun smuggling bust of people trying to smuggle guns from the U.S. into Mexico (a country, I’ll note, where guns are supposedly legal).
Now, anti-2A folks will say, “Look, these indictments are proof that law enforcement is able to prevent people from breaking laws and able to prevent violence!”
But let’s be honest here: the indictments only happened after who knows how many firearms have already been smuggled from the U.S. to Mexico.
Even the U.S. federal government was in on that smuggling racket (remember the Fast and Furious scandal under Obama?)! These indictments are just evidence of a much bigger problem that they aren’t able to handle.
Allan Stein gives us details of this situation:
A federal grand jury has indicted 21 people following a two-year investigation into an alleged international gun trafficking operation.
Federal authorities announced the 158-count indictment on Aug. 4 as part of a Homeland Security Task Force crackdown.
Stein continues:
The charges include conspiracy to unlawfully purchase firearms for the purpose of dealing firearms without a license, making false statements during the purchase of a firearm, dealing firearms without a license, and conspiracy to traffic firearms.
Additionally:
Prosecutors say the firearms—including Glock 19 pistols and AK-style rifles—were then resold for profit and exported to Mexico.
This whole situation is a mess.
But it’s just proof that gun control doesn’t prevent illegal guns transfers from happening.
Because gun control fails. Every. Time.
