Blue State 2A WIN

If there is one thing that you can count on, it’s that blue states running the state government) tend to be gun control zones. (For those of you not familiar with U.S. political terminology, blue states are states with Democrats (those on the politically liberal to leftist running things.)

If Democrats had it their way, you get the impression that those on that side of the political aisle would make the state one giant gun-free zone. Maybe that’s why, even according to anti-2A zealot group Everytown for Gun Safety, blue cities like Chicago, Houston, Memphis, and Philadelphia have the highest numbers of gun homicides.

In this case, I would argue that correlation is indeed at least part of the causation in that gun control leads to higher gun violence, and areas run by Democrats are much more likely to have gun control in place.

It’s actually a logical conclusion to come to: Where gun control is in place, the only people who have guns are criminals and law enforcement. And law enforcement can’t be everywhere at once.

On that list of gun homicides, the blue city of Los Angeles, California came in 6th on the list in terms of raw numbers (not per capita).

With that in mind, the folks in Los Angeles who want to protect themselves from that violence just received a big win as the result of a lawsuit. Jonathan Stempel with Reuters writes,

The Los Angeles County sheriff’s department agreed to speed up licensing for people who want to carry concealed weapons, to settle a U.S. government lawsuit accusing it of systematically and ‌unconstitutionally denying Californians’ Second Amendment rights.

A settlement of the U.S. Department of Justice’s lawsuit was filed on Thursday in Los Angeles federal court, and requires a judge’s approval. The sheriff did not admit wrongdoing in agreeing to settle.

That’s right, the LAPD had been accused of indirectly inflicting gun control on people there by slow walking gun permits, but with this settlement, it sounds like they’ll finally get some relief and will have a better possibility of being able to defend themselves when they need to.
