After Trying To Convince You He Was Pro-Gun, Walz Whines About Guns

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (Kamala Harris’s failed VP pick) tried really hard to fool red-blooded Americans into thinking that he was one of us. After all, the media image of him as an “aww shucks” down to earth guy was pretty convincingly painted by the legacy mainstream media. (You can read more about that image here).

Until you looked into his policies, that is.

Then, it became readily apparent that Walz, like political leftists everywhere, was only pro-gun if that gun was being handled by troops under his leftist control.

The problem for Walz is that 2A advocates and political conservatives in general are now much less willing to put up with those on the other side of the political aisle trying to browbeat them into compliance.

And poor little Tim is unhappy with it (hat tip to here for the lead). Mark Chesnut writes,

I’m not sure what Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz expected when he called a special session to try to pass an “assault weapons” ban and other anti-gun legislation, but apparently it wasn’t uncooperative pro-gun Republicans.

Walz, the failed vice presidential candidate, called the special session following the August 27 shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church, where a trans man fired into the windows of the church during the school’s first Mass of the year. Democrats had said that during the special session, they would be seeking not only the ban on so-called “assault weapons,” but also the re-enactment of the state’s binary trigger ban, which was recently struck down by a district court, a requirement for serial numbers on guns, safe storage requirements, gun safety training and the creation of a civil commitment division in the Attorney General’s Office.

Now, with Republicans refusing to bow to Walz’s numerous demands, he is whining about what he should have expected from the start—pro-gun rights legislators doing what they should to head off further restrictions.

“I guess there’s a line in the sand,” Walz said in a video posted at Fox 9 KMSP. “I was told by Republican leadership that there would never be a vote on guns, there wouldn’t be a vote on gun bans. And that’s not acceptable to reaching compromise, because I said, ‘Provide us what you need to talk about this.’”

Why would they need to talk about passing gun control, Tim? There simply isn’t anything to talk.

Gun control wouldn’t have stopped that horrible shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church or any other mass shooting, and gun control will just make shootings like that easier to commit.

The sooner leftists like Walz get that through their skulls, then the sooner that real, substantive ways to reduce gun violence might be able to be implemented. Gun control won’t reduce overall violence levels, and it would make the vulnerable even more vulnerable.

But leftists know this. The fact of the matter is that Walz and his ilk use gun violence as an excuse to pass gun control, but gun violence isn’t what they’re trying to control by passing gun control. We are what they’re trying to control.
