It must be nice to go someplace, lie about things, be blindly believed, and to, then, be treated nearly like a king.

Sure, it’s unethical, but the posh treatment must be nice.

It sounds like something out of a movie comedy where the main character does outrageous and bizarre things and gets away with it, and we all laugh about it in the theather.

Except, in this case, this really happened. Need To Know news gives us details:

According to the Morning Wire, Ian Roberts, 51, who is  from Guyana and is in the US illegally, was targeted in an ICE  operation. He had a deportation order from May of 2024 and he also had a prior weapons charge from 2020. Upon arrest, Roberts was in possession of a loaded handgun, $3,000 in cash and a fixed blade hunting knife. He was Superintendent of the Des Moines Public School (DMPS) district that serves 30,000 children. His contract stated that he made a base salary of $ $286,716.

He had a number of resume discrepancies; while he reportedly obtained a doctorate from an online school in 2021, he was claiming potentially a decade earlier that he had a doctorate. Despite the alleged lies on his resume, Roberts worked in education for more than 20 years and he was superintendent, not just in Des Moine, but previously at a Pennsylvania school district. He resigned on September 30.

That’s all very interesting, but there is information in this case that makes it especially relevant to you and me here on this website. Zachary Stieber notes:

A search of Roberts’ home revealed three additional firearms, including a Remington .270 caliber rifle in a case in the closet in the master bedroom, according to the charging documents.

Also:

Federal law prohibits illegal immigrants from possessing guns.

And there it is. He came to the U.S. and overstayed his visa making him an illegal alien. Lied about his credentials and citizenship and got a job making more than a quarter of a million dollars of taxpayer money each year and illegally owned firearms.

And it took years for him to be caught.

Even then, they didn’t catch him on gun charges. They found the firearms when they arrested him for other things and searched his home.

So, tell me again how gun control laws are going to be able to prevent criminals from getting guns to commit violence…

Oh, that’s right. They don’t.

We already know that gun control laws don’t reduce or prevent overall levels of violence. We see inner city gun violence in many large cities which already have gun control in place.

It’s just time that everyone stop pretending that it does work.
