No matter how much anti-2A zealots prattle on saying that there’s no such thing as a good guy with a gun, reality keeps proving them wrong.
Sure, there are bad guys with guns, too. And there are bad guys with knives, hammers, cars, and all kinds of tools that can be used in awful ways.
That doesn’t change the fact that a good guy who has and knows how to use his firearm can be the difference between an innocent person being killed or surviving, and a father in South Africa recently demonstrated that for us.
YouTuber Colion Noir has video of the incident. Now, while none of the video shows anyone on the receiving end of getting shot (that I can tell), there is a fair amount of actual gunfire shown in the video, so fair warning about watching it around those who are easily stressed out. You can watch that video below.
Did you catch that footage? Frankly, this father did exactly what I would hope that I or any other responsible gun owner would do if they found themselves in a situation in which they needed to protect their family.
And, frankly, I hate to imagine what might have happened to him and his daughter had the attackers gotten the better of him. Thankfully, they didn’t.
One thing that I want to emphasize here, though, is something that Noir mentioned, too: the reason that this father was able to take effective action to protect his child is because he had the situational awareness to see what was going to happen before the worst parts of it could actually happen.
I can’t emphasize that enough.
You absolutely must have good situational awareness. You cannot allow yourself to be distracted by your smartphone while in public, while in your parked car, while anywhere that an attack could come without warning.
Only by being able to see the attack coming, by being able to be left of bang, if you will, will your firearms training be able to help you, so, with your training to proficiency and training to remain proficient, include training and practicing situational awareness, too.
