If you’re a gun enthusiast, then you know that polymer-framed pistols are very popular, and for good reason. Polymer-framed firearms are lighter and are, therefore, easier to tote around for concealed carry purposes. Got a bad back? Then consider polymer.

On the flip side, though, metal-framed weapons have the advantage of weight. Advantage? Yes. Not for everyday carry, necessarily, but the heavier the weapon, the less recoil that you feel when you are firing. This can make shooting a metal-framed weapon a smoother experience.

Now, you’ve likely fired a polymer-framed pistol, but if you haven’t put your hands on a metal-framed P320, then Sig Sauer has a firearm for your consideration. Steven Paul Barlow writes,

The SIG Custom Works P320 AXG Scorpion is a metal, 9mm striker-fired pistol. Its AXG Carry grip module features custom Hogue G10 grip panels and backstrap insert. It has a precision machined deep undercut and an extended beavertail for an ergonomic, comfortable fit. The pistol features an XSERIES optic-ready slide. It’s compatible with three direct-mount options for the SIG Sauer Electro-Optics ROMEO1 Pro, Delta Point Pro and RMR Reflex Optics. The pistol comes with XRAY3 Day/Night Sights and an XSERIES flat skeletonized trigger.

The P320 AXG Scorpion has an FDE Cerakote finish and ships with three P320 magazines.

These magazines feature new enhancements, including witness holes for each loaded round and a high-visibility follower.

According to Sig Sauer’s own Tom Taylor, the P320 AXG Scorpion is Sig Sauer’s “first commercially available metal P320.” Chris Eger also writes,

Complete with an FDE Cerakote finish on both slide and frame, the 9mm AXG Scorpion hails from the SIG Custom Works and comes standard with a skeletonized flat trigger and Hogue G10 Piranha grips. The XSeries P320 slide is optics-ready with a cut that is compatible with Romeo1PRO, Delta Point Pro, and RMR red dot sights. As far as irons go, the pistol sports XRAY3 day/night sights.

So, if you’ve wanted a metal-framed P320 or just something out of the (what is now) ordinary of polymer-framed weapons, then the P320 AXG Scorpion may be a pistol to consider.
