America loves AR-15s. And what’s not to love? It’s a practical functional, highly customizable rifle that can be used for a variety of purposes.

Of course, anti-2A zealots freak out at the very thought of AR-15s and say that they want to ban AR-15s (mistakenly calling them “assault rifles”) to prevent mass shootings.

Never mind that the overwhelming majority of mass shootings involve hand guns with no AR-15 even around and the many, many people use an AR for hunting.

But never let the facts interrupt a knee-jerk emotional freak out, right?

I digress, though.

AR-15s are so popular that, according to William Taylor:

The most reliable estimate suggests there are approximately 20 million to 25 million AR-15-style rifles currently in circulation in the United States. This number is based on a combination of manufacturing data, sales figures, and surveys, acknowledging that precise figures are difficult to obtain due to the decentralized nature of gun sales and the lack of a comprehensive national registry.

If you’re doing the calculations, based on the U.S. population at census.gov at the time of this writing, there is more than one AR-15 for every 20 Americans.

That’s a lot of guns, and they’re getting more popular.

But maybe you’re someone who wants to know a bit more about the gun that you’re considering and the best ways to handle it. If that’s you, Patriot Training Center has two short videos (under nine minutes combined playing time) that, together, can give you a quick overview of the basics of handling an AR-15. You can watch them below.

Now, is there a ton more information about gun usage, gun safety, and other important topics that you should also know. Not to mention that you should also train for actually using a firearm before using one along with training with the firearm that you’re considering at a safe range before making use of that firearm away from the range (unless you find yourself in an extreme situation not of your choosing that requires the use to save a life).

What other vital information would you recommend that a person new to AR-15s should know? Tell us below.
