WOW: 1 Governor Has Some… Gumption

It’s a rare thing when politicians have courage. Of course, that’s a natural consequence of the fact that they want to get re-elected so that they can keep the gravy train going “doing the work that they find important to do.”

When those politicians have their heads screwed on straight, taking a courageous stance is a good thing.

On the other hand, when politicians take a bad stance on an issue, it’s most definitely a bad thing. And when it comes to taking bad stances on issues, Virginia governor Abigail Spanberger has shown that she certainly has some… gumption, we’ll say.

Take one particular position that she has. Michael Clements writes,

Spanberger has requested amendments to clarify a bill banning so-called “assault weapons” and add universal background checks to a bill that raises the age to purchase a handgun or assault weapon from 18 to 21.

She also requested an amendment to clarify that rendering a gun inoperable with a gun lock will meet the safe storage requirements in the new law, and to clarify that the purpose of gun sell-back programs is “to provide Virginians who choose to safely return a firearm in their possession with a safe process to do so.”

That’s right, in spite of SCOTUS rulings over the last few years, Spangerger is wanting to shove gun control down the collective throats of the people of Virginia.

It’s appalling.

And, then, there’s the gaslighting. Gun confiscation programs promoted as sell-back programs so that people “safely return” a gun to the government? Return? It wasn’t the government’s gun. This is simply gaslighting to try to fool people into thinking that gun rights are given by the government instead of the truth which is that governments help to protect those rights which they already have.

So, yes, Spanberger has… guts. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have good policies to go with it.
