Anti-gunners keep preaching the delusional idea that only law enforcement officers should have firearms. And, while it’s true that law enforcement officers typically have more firearms training that most civilians (if you include those who don’t own firearms), that doesn’t mean that law enforcement officers are perfect.
A story out of Oakland, California might dispel some of the aura of perfection that anti-gunners have about law enforcement officers. Chris Eger writes,
Equipment to include a select-fire Colt M-4 rifle was snatched in a burglary of an agent’s vehicle parked near a Bay Area federal building. Stolen in the smash-and-grab Tuesday evening from a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives vehicle besides the M4 were a 9mm Glock, handcuffs, an ATF radio, and a Taser, reports the East Bay Express.
“ATF is aware of the theft and is aggressively pursuing all leads and working closely with our local partners to quickly find the individuals responsible and return the property,” Ginger Colbrun, a spokeswoman for ATF told the Express
This week’s heist sheds renewed light on a spate of high-profile gun losses by federal authorities in the area, some of which have ended in tragedy. Lawsuits have been filed by the parents of Kathryn Steinle, killed as she was walking along San Francisco’s iconic Pier 14 with a gun stolen from the car of a Bureau of Land Management ranger; and muralist Antonio Ramos, killed with a Glock left in an unattended vehicle by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.
The ATF has had its own problems with guns stolen from cars. A troubled undercover storefront operation in Milwaukee in 2012 saw three ATF-issued firearms swiped from a government-owned SUV, including an M-4 .223 caliber rifle, parked in front of the shop. A subsequent burglary of the shop incurred losses of $39,000 in property including an ATF tactical ballistic shield, which was later found in an alley and recovered.
Other federal agencies have had their share of missing guns as well.
So, since the rabid anti-gunners in California have just about the closest thing to an anti-gunner paradise that we have in America, I just want to ask them: How’s that working out for ya?
Not too good, eh?
If only law enforcement officers should have guns, then, by that logic, these law enforcement officers should be arrested for distribution of firearms.
But these stories just go to show that gun control only keeps guns out of the hands of the law abiding.
“But these stories just go to show that gun control only keeps guns out of the hands of the law abiding.”
Probably should be kept out of the hands a a VERY LARGE PERCENTAGE of so-called law enforcement as well.
It was clinton that ARMED ALL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES!
BLM needs guns to oversee lands THAT BELONG TO THE CITIZENS, NOT THEM
Law enforcement officers arrive on the scene after the damage has been done. If you really love your family you need to provide for their protection. Buy that gun, or guns, with ammo and don’t count on someone else to cover your A**.
My solution would be to have EVERY US citizen carry a sidearm, after training in high school. The catch is that the sidearm her restricted to cap and ball, 5 or 6 shot revolvers like the old Colts or Remingtons. No weapons that use cased ammunition!!! That way, a small amount of lethal force is instantly available everywhere, but no one can spray a room with bullets. In this way, any person knowingly about to commit a crime will have to factor in the near certainty of encountering armed resistance.
And then you would have cap and ball revolvers against modern semi-auto pistols and rifles. The crooks, thugs, and government (but I repeat myself) will NOT give up their modern semi-auto firearms.
If that ever came to pass. You would have the very definition of a “Police State”. Sadly not all Law Enforcement Officers aka LEO’s, are not honest. Give up your right to personal armed protection, and you will have empowered the “playground bully”. With the power of life and death, over everyone else on that playground. And for all of the liberal, snow flakes out there. Don’t say that that cannot ever happen. Just look to history and see what happened in Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, Communist China or any number of South American countries. When the civilian populations were disarmed, and unable to defend themselves. Not a pretty picture to be sure.
Sorry for the breaking news, James, but we already are in a Police State as far as Surveillance and privacy goes that will be firmly solidified once the Leftist Deep State takes out Trump and the Senate in the next election and all the final weight of totalitarian gun control bills just waiting to be passed will crush the 2nd and 4th Amendments like a squashed bug leaving all you ‘Molan Labers’ wishing you would have spent more time organizing abnd fighting them in the legislative battlegrounds to repeal and ban ALL gun control laws instead of all the armchair Moutholution bullshit everybody seems to think matters.
How many of you contacted you legislators this week to impress upon them the serious need–if they want to be re-elected–to NOT let the Leftist Totalitarians sneak in the highly anticipated super slippry slope ‘Red Flag’ bill or the gun ownership mental exam requirement law on this budget/border wall legislation package, like they historically have done on so many gun laws when nobody was looking…or too much in a hurry to get home for the holidays and didn’t read the entire legislation???
That’s what I thought.
I served in Naval Amphibious Forces. Now some sissified twit Democrats are telling me what guns I can buy! Democrats do have one redeeming value. They never lift the toilet seat. That’s because there’s reason for them to lift it!
Suicides by guns should not be included in “gun deaths”! If people start using their cars for suicides
does that mean I will loose my car?
Gun “Control” is horse pucky. It is a Second Amendment right to own and carry a gun anywhere in the US. State laws against the Second Amendment are unconstitutional, period. No one is cracking down on those states, or in some cases, cities.
